Hi i have an HP dv9610us (AMD x64 based) laptop and cant seem to get iatkos or any other distro to see my HDDs in disk utility. If anyone knows any kexts to make it work or any other methods i would greatly appriciate it. Thanks in advance

i used to have a dv9410us and for that i used IPC a few times and iAtkos v4a. i have no experience with the v7. did you try loading in -f

I tried that with this distro with no luck. now -f among other things got a disk to show and install on Ipc, leo4all, and kalyway but in all of those it wouldnt boot after install. it just keeps giving me the "still waiting for root device" thing.

you need to use a different Driver for the NForce chipset, what options did you use? did you try the Wiki for similiar hardware and how the person got it to work, BTW try cpus=1 that fixed a few problems on my dv7-2170us

have you tried changing your Hard Disk mode to "AHCI" or "Linux AHCI" instead of IDE on your bios setup?

Judging by the fact that he has had a disk boot up properly, but not install properly i would say it IS in AHCI mode. Knowing HP bios, The AHCI controller is Completely Allocated to the Operating System. Seeing as his computer probably came with Vista pre-installed That means it has to support AHCI.

He's just not selecting the proper Chipset Kexts in the Customize Dialog

I left a message in your other thread that tells you what you need to do. More than likely this is what you need to do. As i am thinking your chipset is an nVidia type chipset.

my bios doesnt have an option ti change that but like bigjim said i think is already enabled because of an OEM Vista installation

By the way: i would like to thank everyone for helping and offering suggestions. Also sorry it took a few days for me to reply i was in the process of switching internet companies and was without a modem for a few days.

ok, now i have it installed on my 8gb flashdrive (it wont show my SATA drives in disk utility) but when it tries to boot it brings up the Apple Screen (like on a real mac) and then reboots after 2 seconds. I chose the options in customize to best match the system specs according to the hardware info page on the install disc. there were, however, some options i was unfamiliar with such as SMBIOS. Any help with this problem is greatly appriciated. Also if it makes a difference when it was installing at the install screen it will keep the disc spinning as normal but after a few miutes the screen will freeze but if you move the mouse it will jump to where it should be. Heres a pic of the hardware info from the iatkos install disc. Once again thanks in advance for any help.

ok, if you can press F8 or at chameleon press anything besides enter and type that "-v cpus=1" without the quotes to boot into verbose, single core mode, and tell us what it says, it sounds like the AHCI controller isn't being allocated properly or you have an improper kernel though the latter of which would typically result in a "kernel" kernel panic

When i put in verbose and single core flags it just went through the (for lack of a better word) matrix looking screen with kexts it still rebooted so just for the hell of it i copied the flashdrives files to an HFS+ hdd and it gave me this screen. im no expert but im pretty sure that the mac pro 2.1 at the bottom is something to do with the problem

ok it looks to me, like the system doens't like your cpu, maybe the CPU is too new and the VOODOO kernel is not able to recognize the cpu's ID. so add "-x" to the option i gave you before, to boot into safe mode and maybe (hopefully) bypass that problem.

ok it wouldnt boot with the safemode flag but i reinstalled it on my flash drive with all kernel selected and it works now. I can see the desktop and use Mac OS. Now i only have 3 problems: 1) It wont recognize any SATA or ATA devices and 2) it wont let me change resolution to 1440X900 (which its the native resolution of my card) from 1024X768 3) no sound
