Hi, I am new to the mac world and have just stumbled my way through installing Snow Leopard on my Asus P5Q Pro.

I cannot get the Atheros AR8121/8113/8114 Ethernet Controller to work, or the Realtek ALC1200 hd audio either (24 hours solid).

Could some kind person talk me through it, gently, like a 2 year old. My knowledge is very basic, but am eager to learn.

I have searched for a solution, but finding it hard to get beginners language as most of the information seems to be steered towards experienced programmers.

Any help would be gratefully received.

I installed it straight from the dvd with a couple of minor adjustments in the bios, I have read some tutorials saying to use several pieces of software to install it,so maybe I have to install something else also?.

Many thanks.

Many thanks Watcher for your help.

I visited kexts.com and found quite a few that should work with my system
(but did not)
.
For anyone with an Asus P5Q Pro m/b and nVidia 1gb HD PCI-E these are the kexts that worked for me (and I tried many)

Atheros Gigabit.kext for Lan Card (AttansicL1Ethernet)(there are a few different Attansic all with L1 as a reference so try each).

NVEnabler 64.kext for graphics.

VoodooHDA-1.kext (make sure to trash ALCinject.kext & HDAENABLER.kext from system/library/extensions first)

All work perfect !.

Hope this helps others from hurting their heads and damaging the wall.

The only problem I have now is getting my Snow Leopard Retail to dual boot with Windows 7 without having to boot from the Empire EFI disc.
