Full Version: Issue with 802.1x authentication

I'm running dual boot 10.5.7 and 10.6 retail, and everything works okay. In SL i have a problem connecting to a network which requires 802.1x authentication to connect, while in 10.5.7 it works with no problem.
Ether normally works in SL, only 802.1x authentication doesn't work.

Does anyone have an idea what it might be? I believe it to be a bug in SL, not a hackintosh matter...

Any idea how to install wpa_supplicant in OSX? Anyone tried that?

cheers!

I believe there was a AirportUtility update on 8/10/09!
I solved a problem I had with a Netgear stick I had........

The problem is on Ethernet, not WLAN. I get the error "Authentication server is not responding" and in Console, I can only see "en0 START", but doesn't try to authenticate :S

Otherwise Ethernet works with no problem, only the 802.1x authorization doesn't work :S

my mac (x86,P5QL PRO) works fine with 802.1x. Does your lan driver work well?

Yes my LAN works ok. I'm connected to the Internet over it now, so obviously it works. It also works and automaticaly reconnects after sleep, just like it should.

I also tried a different LAN card, it also worked normally, except 802.1x :S I also tried 10.6.1 retail on another PC, and LAN also works, but no 802.1x.

However on both computers when I install iAtkos 10.5.7, authentication works with no problem... So I believe it to be a bug in Snow Leopard itself :S

cheers!

Seems that people who have a Mac have the exact same problem, so it must be a Snow Leopard problem...

In this tutorial, at 6. Activate Bonour Networking section, you'll find the instructions to put your Ethernet in promiscous mode. After you do that, 802.1x works, automagically smile.gif
