Hi,

I've searched but can't find an answer to where I look/change the detected keyboard. I hope this is the right place to post or a friendly mod will move it to the right one.

I am running OSX retail 10.5.6 + kexts with Chameleon RC2 on an EEPC901 with a modded BIOS.
(I can provide more detail if needed)

I would like to know if there is a simple way to force OSX to recognise the 901's keyboard as a PC laptop layout with a fn key?

I ask as all 901 UK keyboards have the backslash on the Z key accessed as [fn] & [z] together. This key combination on my 901 running OSX produces no characters at all. I tried building a keyboard map to fix this. I figured it would be easy but I discovered the fn key doesn't seem to generate a scan code that can be re-mapped.

Also when using "Keyboard Viewer" I notice that in detecting my keyboard OSX has decided that its a desktop keyboard (the fn key) isn't shown and the keyboard layout includes a keypad etc. Also some of the options associated with this are missing in the control panel.

I therefore assume I need to mod a kext somewhere to force OSX to treat the built-in keyboard, which SystemProfiler identifies as a Chicony CNF7129 USB device, correctly. I know the fn key is working because I dual boot into XP where its fine and also the brightness control ([fn]&[F3]/[F4]) works perfectly, so its registering correctly at some point in the system.

Does anyone know how I can get the keyboard properly recognised - including the fn key - so I can type a backslash??

thanks
