Hackint0sh newb here. smile.gif

I've been trying to follow this example:
http://lifehacker.com/5360150/install-snow...acking-required

I have almost the same hardware, RAM is a different brand (but same speed/type), CPU is slightly different speed, graphics card may be a different brand, but still NVidia and nearly identical specs (x2 ram on the card)

The stage I'm stuck at is install. The installer starts fine, but runs into a variety of errors that seem to indicate that the installer can't write to the hard drive.

e.g.

"Error writing cache to /Volumes/Untitled 1/Library/Cahes/com.apple.FindSystemFiles.plist"

after a minute or so, it spits out this message four times

"Failed to verify BaseSystem.pkg"

then

"Failed to download package from file://localhost/System/Installation/Packages/BaseSystem.pkg and no alternate source"

I'd be grateful if someone could point out what I'm doing wrong or point me to a place where I can learn more about it. Thanks! smile.gif

I hope someone here helps you out with this. I have all the parts coming from newegg tomorrow...though I followed the exact hardware list. kind of nervous/excited to try this out, but i'm trying to figure out everything that could go wrong before it actually does. lol.

Hey, I managed to get my hackint0sh to work. There are a couple minor problems with it, mainly because of hardware differences. I'm not sure how to change the (EFI?) settings to be exactly accurate to my video card. (it has more ram than the lifehacker one)

I also couldn't get the network card (encore) to work. I ended up buying a USB->ethernet converter instead, which just works out of the box.

So yeah, I need to learn how to actually change the hardware drivers/settings, I can't seem to find a straightforward guide that explains all the steps. (there are guides for individual bits in the process, but its hard to put them all together)

cool. hopefully following the parts list to the letter will help me avoid any issues that i probably wouldn't know how to fix.

Uhh, I believe that this isn't the correct place for this topic. Try this section.

you can use OSX86 Tools to edit EFI strings, it has a list of cards, hope that yours is there.
If not, search google for an EFI of your card, or check the compatibility list in the wiki here to see if theres any info on your card.

From my experience OSX has trouble with cards that have more ram, I had to flash mine to get it to work.

(and like Ryu-ka said you could probably get more help in the correct forum biggrin.gif)
