I've narrowed down my choice of motherboard to two mATX options from gigabyte: their P55M-UD2, and -UD4. I know the UD2 works, but I haven't been able to find much info on the compatibility of this board. I haven't found much out about the UD4 board either, even on this site, but I would prefer using that board because of the additional features.

Also, trying to choose between an i5 750 and an i7 860. I've been reading that the vanilla kernel in 10.6.2 supports i5 processors, but every time I read this, I always wonder if that means that it will also support i7 processors, if it's still on the P55 chipset. Does 10.6.2 support all processors on the P55 chipset, or just the i5 processor?

why the ud4? The ud2 works very well and has nearly everything one could ask for?

i5 and i7 both are supported! Look at this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=176155

Thanks!

I want the ud4 mainly because I can't find a kext for the audio chipset on the ud2. apart from that I would be happy using the ud2 for my build
