Go to the Formerlyknownas' vanilla speedstep thread and read. A lot. The thread has gotten quite long... but Master Chief is doing strange and wonderful things there with the P5K through DSDT. The DSDT for your board should be almost the same. Have fun!

Hi,
I have an ASUS P5E, all I need to do in order for vanilla speedstep to work is add method _CST from MacPro3,1 to my DSDT, and set model identifier as MacPro3,1 in smbios.plist. It works with 2 P-states (highest and lowest). If I add custom _PSS values it works with more P-states, but I don't use it.

Please see this post about the patches I use in P5E, I know they work too in P5E Deluxe and P5K, don't know about P5Q

You can also use VoodooPowerMini.kext from Superhai
