Hello.
I want to install iDeneb 10.5.5 on my HP dv5-1050ee. My sys config is:
Processor: AMD TurionX2 Ultra (SSE3 supported) 2.2GHz
RAM: DDR2 3GB
Graphics Card: ATI RADEON 3450- 256MB
When i reach the "Welcome" menu after booting from iDeneb DVD and select DISK UTILITY and select the partition (i created in windows hoping to dedicate it to MAC). It says the disk erase failed and gives the message "Illogical request". I am guess thats because you cannot format a logical partition with the DVD. I checked a tutorial titled "OSX Leopard 10.5.5 On A PC" and it states that i must click on the hard drive (not any partitions...)
So if i do select my hard drive and erase, will I lose my windows and ALL content on my hard disk?
I understand that i can perform an erase that is "recoverable", but will that mean i wont be able to boot to windows normally?
Can some1 tell me a method to install MAC and not lose window (or any content for that matter) and be able to choose which operating system i would like to boot at start up
I will really appreciate any help offered.
Thanks a lot!
the problem i faced was due to the fact that the partition i created using "diskmgmt.msc" was a logical disk. I managed to make that a primary partition with command line DISKPART command.
Installed iDeneb on the dedicated partion, without comprasiming windows and can view all files n drives from my OS Leopard.
EasyBCD was used to manage both bootloaders.
thanks for the info Rod, but indeed that was the problem. i didnt use any 3rd party partitioners, i used diskmgmt.msc to shirk the disk. the mistake i initially made was to label the volume. it was then that i got the "illogical partition" error msg. so i deleted the partition i had created and extended my drive to the original size.
Next i shrunk it again (to whatever size i needed) and left it as "unallocated". opened up cmd and used the DISKPART command to create a partition (id=af) and then tried the installation onto that new partition. everything worked smoothly.
the only issue i face now is with some of my hardware -viz. wireless &sound- not working (guess i didnt select the right options in the "customize" menu, during installation.
but thanks again for the info
