Here's the idea:
I want to use an iSight gutted from an iMac core 2 duo to create an alpha radiation visualizer ála inventgeek.com
(project idea: http://www.inventgeek.com/Projects/AlphaRad/Page1.aspx)

Not only that, but I want to put a page up featuring a live feed from the camera showing the cerenkov radiation bursts. I'll need just one bit of help on one step of the process and thought would be the place.

I took the iSight out and two connectors are attached. One has four wires leading into it, the other has twelve, and the one with four branches off from the connector with twelve wires. I am guessing the 12-connector is audio/video and the 4-connector is audio/status. The iSight connects internally using a 480 Mb/s high speed universal serial bus (USB). I was thinking I could just solder the right places and connect these wires to a standard USB connector. Is this a good idea? Let me add if you couldn't tell, I have no idea what I am doing at this part.

Thank you so much!
