This is a complete guide to installing iATKOS v7 if you follow this guide 100% you will have a fully working pretty much out of the box install of OS X 10.5.7 =)
on a side note I have only installed from USB Flash Drive method, but I am sure if you have an external USB DVD you'll be fine also.

You will need to download this package to get the proper video (1024x600) after the install.

Introduction
This guide will be for the iATKOS v7 install method.
Before you install OSX it's always a good idea to update your bios. While in XP/Linux, go to the HP website and find your model. Download the Bios update under the drivers/support section. I believe the current one is v11. You won't be able to update your Bios via OSX as far as I know.
First off, you have two options for installing OS X onto your Mini. The USB Drive Method, or using an external optical drive via the USB DVD drive method. I have only installed using the USB Flash Drive method.

Things you will need
1. A HP Mini 1000 series unit with at least 16GB or greater disk space (any model or OS; they all work) (NOTE: Make sure Bios is Version 0.5, won't work if V0.3 is used)
2. An 8GB(or larger) USB drive OR an external USB DVD drive
3. A copy of iATKOS v7 (you can find it in the usual places don't ask me where to get it)
4. Display Fix attached to this guide
5. Optional, but helpful: an additional USB drive to transfer files with

The most important thing you need to do is find a copy of the iATKOS v7 disc image. Take a quick trip to google to find the iAtkos v7 image.
NOTE: you may also find other versions of iATKOS ONLY USE v7 or this will not work.

Creating an iATKOS v7 Install


MAC via USB Drive (you can also use a hackintosh)
1. Open up Disk Utility.app in /Applications/Utilites/
2. Select the drive you will be using in the left hand pane.
3. Click the Partition Select 1 Partition and apply (name the drive OS X Installer)
4. Under "Volume Format" select Mac OS Extended
5. Click Erase
6. Click the "Restore" tab
7. If you havn't already, go to your iATKOS.iso and double click it, or if you have burned the iso to disk already put it in the drive and on the left hand side you will see the dvd drive that is mounted with iATKOS
8. Back in Disk Utility, you should see the iiATKOS.iso in the left pane with another image under it with an apple logo on it, or stated above the dvd drive mounted with your disc.
9. Drag the image to the "Source" location
10. Drag your flash drive you have erased to the "Destination" location.
11. Click Restore
12. After Restore completes open up OSXTools1.0.150 and click Install EFI Run FDisk
13. Make sure you selsect your Flash Drive in the Disk to Use Drop down (it should be named OS X Installer if you labeled it like I started in the above) and in the drop down below Disk to Use you will see EFI to Install, Select PC_EFI v8
14. Click Install EFI
15. You should now have a fully bootable Flash drive ready to install OS X!

I have not used the method posted below (Windows)

Windows via USB Drive (tested in Windows XP)
1. Hook up your external Hard-Drive to your computer. Go to Start and right click on My Computer. Click Manage. On the left side, go to Disk Management.
2. Click on your External Hard-Drive. Then click 'Delete'.THIS WILL DELETE EVERYTHING ON THE EXTERNAL HARD-DRIVE!. Once that is complete, go to Start and right click on My Computer. Click Manage. On the left side, go to Disk Management. Once again, click on your External Hard-Drive.
3. Click on 'Format'. Click next, and make sure you set the partition size to about 6GB.
4. Let it finish, then download the file linked 5 lines below. It is a handy utility for Windows that will help you put iATKOS v7 on an external Hard-Drive. Open the file and click 'ddmac' and English_GUI. On 'ddmac', don't be alarmed if it looks strange (this is why you need the English_GUI).
5. Follow the instructions in the English_GUI on the ddmac. It is pretty straightforward. Click the start button, and let it do its thing. DO NOT CLICK THE DDMAC! I have found that if you click it, it messes up.
6. After that, reboot your mini, and press f9. Select your External Hard-Drive, and hit enter. Mac OSX installer should start.

USB DVD via OS X
1. Find your iATKOS.iso and double click on it.
2. Open up Disk Utility. It's under you're utilities folder in your applications folder.
3. Click on your iATKOS.iso in the left pane of drive.
4. Click the "Burn" button on the top of the window.
5. Plug in your usb drive/DVD drive into the mini and reboot.
6. When the HP Logo appears, hit f9
7. Select your USB/DVD drive from the list of boot devices
USB DVD via Windows
1. If you don't have one already, download an ISO burning program. Googling brings up this one:http://www.freeisoburner.com/
2. Select the iDeneb.iso as the source, or open up the iso via your iso burning program.
3. Insert a blank DVD into the drive and burn.

Installing OS X
From this point on, everything on your mini is about to be erased. Say goodbye to XP/Linux Mi or whatever it's called. It's worth it in the end I promise.
If you do not follow my instructions on this next step iATKOS v7 will panic when trying to boot.
Plug in your now bootable OS X Flash Drive, USB DVD, or USB HDD (depend on what medium your using for the install) Turn on the mini and press F9. Now select the Flash Drive, USB DVD, or USB HDD you want to install from and keep pressing F8 and hit enter. If you do not keep pressing F8 you will white screen with an apple logo and then the system will reboot so make sure you keep pressing F8 when booting off of your drive! you should see a command line with boot:
now at the command line with boot: type cpus=1
it should look like this boot: cpus=1
then hit enter and you should boot into the OS X installer pretty fast if your installing from a flash drive. You can also use the -v command before cpus=1 this will show you any messages if you need to figure out what went wrong (if anything went wrong) Example: boot: -v cpus=1
If you get a panic and the system reboots or your stuck at a white screen with a circle with a slash going through it, just reboot and try again. I would recommend using the Flash Drive install method! I have had issues with external DVD drives during installs of OS X.

1. The installer will now begin. Wait at the apple logo until a language selection screen is shown. Select your language and hit next.
2. Go to the top of the screen where it says utilities. From this menu select "Disk Utility"
3. Click on the Mini's Hard drive in the left pane.
4. Click on the "erase" tab
5. Under Volume format, select Mac OS Extended
6. Click Erase
(NOTE: If you plan on ever dual booting or wanting partitions on your drive, now is the time to do it. You wont be able to partition/resize your drive after the install. If you would like to dual boot, go to the partition tab on you HD, and click the + button. Add a partition any size you like and assign it as "Free Space". You can format it later)
7. After erasing is complete, exit the disk utility
8. Now click next and select your newly erased hard drive as the destination.
9.On the next screen you will see an option at the bottom that says "customize". Click on it and apply the following patches:
a. Expand "x86 patches" and select: OHR
b. Expand "Driver" Expand "System" Expand SATA/IDE check Intel SATA/IDE Close "System"
c. With "Driver" still expanded check USB
e. Expand PS/2 Mouse/Keyboard check Voodoo PS/2 Driver With Trackpad
d. With "Driver" still expanded check Laptop Battery, and NTFS - 3G
f. Expand "Network" Expand "Wireless" check Broadcom BCM43xx

That's it you can now continue with the installation.

Install will take about 15 mins. your computer will reboot when the install is finished.
Once the install is finished you will have a nice new shinny boot screen =) this is chameleon 2.1 RC you should see the Chameleon on top =)
At this point everything will work out of the box but the screen will be stuck in 800x600 with no selection for other resolutions yet so we will fix this in advance (or at least prepare to install proper video drivers)

You can also boot into OS X at this time first if you want to setup your account first then follow the steps below

So now that OS X is installed when the mini reboots and you see the Chameleon boot loader. press any key to enter setup.
now type -s you should see boot: -s on the bottom left hand side of the screen, now press enter and it should boot you into single user mode.
with you get the command prompt it will look like this:
:/ root#
now type /sbin/fsck -fy and press enter
after it does its thing type: /sbin/mount -uw / and press enter
don't forget that / after -uw or you will not have write access.

Do Exactly as I say or you will hate life =)
Type: cd System/Library and press enter
Type: rm -r Extensions.mkext and press enter
Type: cd Extensions and press enter
Type: rm -r AppleIntelGMA*.* and press enter
Type: rm -r AppleIntelIntergrated*.* press tab and it will fill in the rest for you and press enter
Type: shutdown -r now
This will remove the kext cache and all of the Intel Graphic drivers because they do not work correctly (stuck at 800x600) and the system should now reboot. If all went well you should be at the screen to enter in all of your info and user account =)

Once you are at the desktop of OS X you can now install the video drivers from the Display Package I put together (I take no credit for the actual Drivers)

You can download them directly or download them on another computer and put the files on a flash drive, just make sure to copy them to the Desktop to make things easier.
Once you extract The Display Package to the Desktop you should have these folders:
OSXTools1.0.150
First
Second

Now Start OSXTools and click install kexts
browse to the dir First and select all (3) kexts
and click install.
After the kexts instal with will pop up asking to reboot DO NOT REBOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you reboot you will have to go into single user mode again and remove all the files again SO DO NOT REBOOT YET! CLICK CANCEL
Now open the folder Second and click on GMA950.pkg and a setup window will pop up.
click continue, click install put in your password if you have one and proceed. after the install you can now reboot.

Once you reboot you should be back at the OS X desktop but now with working 1024x600 resolution! you can now enable Quartz.

Enable Quartz
To enable Quartz open OSX86 Tools and click the Enable/Disable Quartz GL button. It will tell you the current status. If its disabled, feel free to enable it by clicking the button that says "Enable Quartz GL". after Quartz is enables the system will need to rebooted.

You should now be fully working on OS X 10.5.7
You can also update from the Software Update by click on the apple logo on the top left.
Make Sure you UNCHECK AirPort Utility Software Update or you will be left without a Wireless Connection! if you wind up updating AirPort Utility Software Update you will have to track down the BCM43xx kext and reinstall it. but make life easy and uncheck AirPort Utility Software Update.

I have noticed something about the voodoo sound driver, although you have sound and you can even adjust the sound with the function keys the sound level stays the same, but you can set the sound level in setting/voodooHDA and just set the volume level by sliding the PCM slider. if anyone can figure out a fix for this please post it =)

This is the most foolproof install of OS X 10.5.7 if its not working for you your not following this guide 100% if you have any questions I will try to answer them quickly. It took me quite a while to work out all the kinks of the install to get everything working perfectly so enjoy =)

should it be "AppleIntelIntergrated*.*" because there wasn't a file or folder called "AppleIntelIntergrated"

I have a HP Mini 110-1025DX (Bios F.06 F), and I followed the guide perfectly, but after pressing F9 and choosing the usb drive, I get a black screen with a white flashing cursor in the top Left. Any help?

Did you install yet? or are you trying to boot to the install?
You only need to press F9 to select boot device for your install disc.
Once you have selected the drive your OS X Install is on you have to press F8 very fast so you get the boot: prompt
then type cpus=1 and hit enter
you should be in the install shortly after.

are you using iATKOS v7? because if your not you will get that blinking cursor. Unless you burned a copy and its a bad burn as well. I suggest installing from a flash drive.
the only 2 distros I have seen work so far on the hp mini are iDeneb 1.3 (OS 10.5.5) and iATKOS v7 (OS 10.5.7) but iATKOS v7 will only boot the disc with the cpus=1
that is just for install by the way because after you install iATKOS v7 you will have support for virtual processor and it will show 2 cores =)

also are you booting from a usb cd rom, flash drive, or external hard drive?
you have to give me more information before I can help you out =)

Finally got it to boot.. Used windows boot manager (the defalut from win 7) then i chose "older operating system" and mac os was on the list

It finally booted.. But the resolution is so low I can't click next.. I tried including "Graphics Mode"="1024x600x32" at the darwin bootloader, but that didnt help.

burgerboy9n: do you have the 10.1" hp mini? because it looks like you have the 8" one. If you have the 8" you will have to set a different res. I don't have the 8" one but I would try 800x600 to start to see if you can get the buttons to show. Like I had stated in a previous post give me the full description of what you have IE HP Mini 1035nr or other model because without any information on what your trying to install on I am shooting in the dark.

Predator6sic6: well first off if you don't press F9 when you power on your only going to boot from your hard drive... and if you have windows on there it would boot into windows. you have to first press F9 to select boot device IE Flash Drive with OS X install on it. If you don't press F8 when booting up your install it will go to load then crash and restart your mini. so make sure to keep pressing F8 very fast till you get the boot: when loading your OS X install.

Followed the guide for asus eeepc 1000h, but no hardware core image, is it working on yours?

Model in above post. It has an intel gma950 graphics chip. 10.1" screen. just tried "graphics mode"="800x600x32" but same problem.

Not that I'm aware of because the install method to get the video drivers to work properly with this build has to be installed a special way. the GMA950 driver is on the the install though as it is but wont let you go into 1024x600 but even so you should still have the buttons on that screen to go to the next part of the install. Have you tried to click on utilities then select drive manager? if you can do that and then format the disc you want to install on it might push you to the next part of the install to select the drive. I will make another Flash Disk installer in a bit and take some screen shots so you can see all the steps I go through.

if I were you I would download another copy and burn it at a slow speed and use nero.
I had issues burning with PowerISO on a few other distros including this one until I burned it with nero. This is assuming your coming off a windows box =)

While customizing do we need to select a decrypter under x86 patches?

With the other items highlighted under x86 patches - do I uncheck the other ones other than those listed in the tutorial?

I am going to try again on the install - as I have gotten to the chameleon screen - but can't seem to get :/ root# to show up. It boots up a bunch of things on the screen then go to a white square at the bottom - it doesn't show :/ root#. Did I do something wrong?

whatever was preselected you can just leave, so don't uncheck anything. Just add what I listed in the tut.

Thanks for the help, I got it installed with no other problems to a 1010NR (only a 8GB SSD drive, so not to much space left on it). It seems to work good so far.

I did and I saw the question brought up but not an asnwer, maybe I missed it, I apologize.

I have a HP Mini 110.

I followed the directions exactly, putting iATKOS v7 on a flash drive, and first I had the HFS+ partition error many times, then one time it worked (but I don't know why...)

When it did finally work, I couldn't click next. So I used the same Flash Drive, reformatted it and used it to put Windows 7 on the machine because I didn't have time to keep messing around with it.

Now, I can't seem to get past the HFS+ partition error again. I'm like going around in circles... any help would be much appreciated.

I currently have Win 7 on the netbook, and Win 7 on a desktop, so that's what I have at my disposal in terms of getting OSX on the Mini.

No problem =) You might need to redownload a copy of iATKOS.
I would give that a shot first before you move any farther.

I had to deal with this problem. I made to copys of the dvd. I put one in my external dvd drive attached to my netbook, and one to a computer with a higher resolution. Using the computer with the higher resolution I figured out what combination of "tab" and "space" would select the nessicary install options.

Install went flawlessly. Once installed, on first boot, you will get a message saying that mac os x setup asssistant cant be run on this monitor. Click ok. Follow the install instructions for the GMA950. Once all the kexts are installed and you install the pkg, reboot into single user mode. Follow the normal steps to mount the disk. Once mounted "rm -r /var/db/.AppleSetupDone" which activates the setup assistant.

If you just want a single boot, hackintosh you won't have any problems, but if you want dual boot let me know, i figured that out too. The win7 boot loader doesnt work with chameleon out of the box.

I set up my Mini for single boot so I only have OS X on it. So if you guys are running into problems trying to dual boot hopefully the above post will help you out =)

There is also a small issue with the sound, the sound works perfectly ...but to adjust the volume properly you have to go into the VoodooHDA preference pane and adjust it from PCM, But I have come up with a quick fix.

1) Remove the VoodooHDA.PrefPane (just drag it to the trash can)
2) Remove the VoodooHDA.kext (System/Library/Extensions)
3) Use OSXTools to reinstall VoodooHDA.kext (link below)

i redownloaded it and it still wont boot... now, if i dont get the hfs+ error, i just get nothing...

I had problems with using a flash drive and the windows 7 bootloader. I would try burning it to a dvd. Thats what worked for me once i put win 7 on.

Have you followed the directions?

1) When you power up hit F9
2) Select flash drive and spam F8
3) At the prompt type cpus=1
4) Start the install

If you do not type cpus=1 it will not work at all. take it one step farther and see what errors your getting by typing -v cpus=1

Also are you putting the install on the flash drive within windows?
If you are I cant help you there at all because I have not tried to use the install method to the flash drive from windows. I have a desktop I dual boot with OS X and I use that to install to my flash drive.

I dont think he even gets to the darwin bootloader where he has the opprotunity to type cpus=1. Once i installed windows 7, after pressing f9 and choosing my usb hard-drive to boot, it no longer worked.

I managed to get it working.

For whatever reason, from Windows 7, using the method of formatting it and then using dmacc, I wasn't able to create a bootable USB.

So lets start from scratch so we can figure out every ones issues with dual booting Windows 7 and OS X.

If your going to dual boot you must install Windows first on the first partition.
1) Make 2 partitions the first one will have to have Windows 7 installed on it.
2) Install Windows 7
3) Install OS X on 2nd partition (use disk utility in the OS X installer)
4) Now we will have to setup chain0 in Windows 7 boot or you will not be able to load OS X

to find chain0 search these forums I'm sure there is plenty of posts on where to download it and how to use BCDEDIT on vista/windows7 to add it to the windows boot loader.


All this is assuming you were able to install OS X, also if you were able to install OS X and chameleon and it somehow fuct your mbr so you cant even boot windows 7 just load up the windows 7 installer and go to recovery console and type FIXMBR and hit enter. Then you will have the windows 7 boot loader on the MBR

O HAI,

So, I had the same issue when installing iDeneb v.1.3 on my 110. What you have to do is from this screen, after running the partition, click on the welcome text and hit tab twice, then space bar. This effectively tabs to the 'continue' button, which is hidden because the screen is too small to show the whole thing. This will then take you to a screen to accept the T&C, but you should be able to see the button to accept.

Next, it'll ask you to select the drive to install on - but uh oh, the buttons are gone again! No worries - just click on the HD it needs to install to, then hit tab THREE times, followed by the space bar. The first tab should highlight the drive you just selected, and the next two are to cycle to the 'next' button.

PLEASE NOTE: If you're using USB to install, it may show that drive as an option as well. If it does, you'll probably need to hit tab FOUR times in order to get it to the 'proceed' button. If it messes up, it'll go back to the previous screen. Experiment a little with the number of tabs you need to press, it'll work eventually.

Now finally it says 'ready to install' or something like that. From here you MUST press tab three times, followed by the space bar, in order to get to the customization screen. If you don't, your install will failt. Once you check all the stuff required, it'll take you back to this screen, where you should then press tab twice and then the space bar. Et voila, installation should proceed normally!

I'm very interested in hearing how iATKOS runs for you, since iDeneb wouldn't let me ugrade to 10.5.7, and with 10.5.5 my battery life is absolutely horrendous.

Thanks a million for the tutorial I followed it step by step and everything works wonderully. The only problem is that wifi is still not working. Is there a fix? Did I miss a crucial step? I made sure to click on the broadcom option during the install.

os x is just no good without internet!
The toggle seems to be on and lit blue also.

do you have a broadcom wireless card?
I'm using the stock card that came with the 1035nr and its a broadcom so you have to select the BCM43xx driver or you wont have internet. Also I know some people have issues with the broadcom driver where you have to actually slide the wifi switch during the boot up of OS X, I have not had that issue though.

I have the 1030 it shouldn't have a differnt wireless card. I've also tried holdin the slider no luck
