Announcing UEX: UltraEdit for Linux (Now in Beta testing)

UltraEdit is heralded by the Windows community as the ideal text, HTML, HEX editor, advanced PHP, Perl, Java and JavaScript editor for programmers. We think delivering anything short of this to our Linux/Mac users would be a disappointment. As such, we didn't simply port UltraEdit (Windows) to Linux, rather we re-engineered the critical components to take advantage of the native Linux/Mac operating system - all this to give you the superior performance that UltraEdit is known for - on your operating system of choice.

Have been working with UltraEdit for years on the PC side. It is a much, much more powerful and feature packed piece of software than textedit. Textedit is good for free and can do some basic stuff, but UltraEdit can do more. The first time you need to highlight and copy a single column from a multi-column database, it'll be well worth the price.

UltraEdit is the only app which you can use when working with large SQL files (search/replace/select range). Other text editors will either crash or work extremely slow.
