It crashes after a few seconds on my system. I still use VLC_20050924_x86_bin.dmg. This version works perfectly.

Do you still need QE / CI support to run it?

It works without QE/CI but it's very very slow!!!!!!! I have to watch DVDs with half size to have a watchable frame rate! But it's the only chance to watch DVD on an unaccelerated machine at all!

If you have OpenGL HW support the framerate is perfect. After i got OGL working with my 7500 videos plays correctly.

belgranoAs usually, VLC crashes after short time. I hoped that this release is better than previous.

Same for me, I can't understand why the builds made by the official team are so buggy whereas my old build from Lamer_0 (made in the first weeks of OSX on x86 story) works quite well. Is Lamer_0 so strong ?

Same here. Lamer_0 (VLC_20050924_x86_bin.dmg) works perfectly while other versions crash in a short time.

Hmmm, strange.
For me it's working like a charm. But so did the last one I used (0.8.5 test3).

Have you tried deleting the preferences files (org.videolan.vlc.plist and VLC folder from user/Library/Preferences)?
Maybe the crashes are related to not having QE and CI (a wild guess, don't throw the rock at me

)

Ok, I figured it out. The new version crashes always with output module "quartz-video" enabled. With standard output in works flawlessly.
So my question is if quartz video output has any advantages. Does it have better rendering quality? It also seems that the processor usage is a bit lower with new version and standard rendering.
