Hackintosh was running quite nicely. Switched out old one gig stick of 533mhz ram for four one gig sticks of 800hmz. now, when using around 2.x gig or ram i get the kernel panic of:

"getPHYSICALsegment () out of 32b range......IOGeneralMemoryDescriptor..."

I've read this MAY (bc im not sure if this is the cause) be related to the machine trying to use too much memory in 32 bit mode, but thanks to voodoo im running my amd dual core in 64 bit...so im not sure whey im having the problem.

I saw somethinn about a function called "getphysicalsegment64"...but im not exactly sure what that is.

any help would be appreciated smile.gif

If that KP always happen AND! happen early at boottime of OS X, i am sure thats an problem of the IDE/SATA drivers (2GB+ problem).
You will find much information about that in the part IDE/SATA of drivers.
There are solutions for JMIRCRON and also NFORCE (if you have) there.

If your KP is not always at osx boottime AND not always running one programm (others OK), than is can be also an problem of OC Timings for the RAM.
Newer DDR2 needs always 1.9-2.1 Volt (1.8 Volt is normal), high performance DDR2 needs 2.1 - 2.3 Volt. Check that in your BIOS. Also check if you must change (if OC by FSB) the RAM Clk muiltiplayer to not OC RAM also. Effektive RAM CLK should not be much more than 5 %, on normal DDR2. (not more than 840 MHZ for 800 MHZ RAMS).

To avoid that KP (until solution) you can type maxmem=2048 (after F8 ) in the darwin bootloader options.

Also known is , that adding more than 4GB at AMD systems (Voodoo/AnV Kernel) is much instable/KP, but not as early KP as the IDE/SATA KP with 2GB+ for all (Intel Vanilla/AMD) systems.
