I am thinking of getting an iMac and was wondering is in the future in case I want to upgrade, if I'll be able to keep the iMac just for its screen and use it with a MacPro for example?
If this by any means possible?

You won´t be able cause its not possible to send a video signal to mini-dvi ports. In that case it would be better to get a cheap screen and connect it to the macpro and still using the imac.

or buy a mac pro and a very beautiful new apple screen (it looks a bit like an imac)

Wait a little while for new iMacs to be released. They're nearing the end of their cycle. Or new Mac pros
The new LED 24" doesn't work with a Mac Pro yet!
Screen Recycle works rather slowly, as it has to work over a network. There is also a program called Synergy that lets you use one mouse over two computers - even better!

how long do you think before the new ones?
