Mysticus C* and myself are discussing opening up a donation poll for our own NameServer and Hosting therefore we can eliminate any third/fourth party and have better, more reliable site......what do you think?
It likely employs the Apple 10.5.7 Combo Update with pre/post update wrapper scripts....but you have to register on the insanelymac site to download it.....
useful for testing if your system can run with latest Vanilla kernel.....
I would definitely say Bitchin! I would try to donate what I could as well. I think it would be awesome as well as necessary for Nvidia based boards for now and into the future with Snow Leopard.
I have posted your post

I would like to know how does Mac OS works on the NC10 all in all ? Is it like a real MACINTOSH or it still lacks the Mac soul and still feels like a new powerful Ferarri engine in old 10 y.o. car ? Just wanna know if you guys are satisfied using Samsung NC10 netbook with this stylish operating system? Currently I'm using Win7 RC1 (7100 build) on my NC10 and I'm very curious to know how does Mac OS performs on this low-performance laptop. Does it lag?

i just tested my 10.5.7 partition, and sleep works fine on my nc10...
i suggest you to first change back to original bootloader (download boot.pkg from nc10 files section, and install it on your boot partition)
then try, if it works, it is bootloader, else, either you are using a dsdt patch, or different bios? or some driver you installed is causing the issue!
also, you have mysticus.iso installed? or efi method?

Yes; I have mysticus.iso installed.
What is dsdt patch ?
Also, I just updated my nc10 with an original samsung internal umts modul, I do not know if it can cause the problem.

mine is still at 02ca...
so it could be a bios issue, but cant say for sure... did you start from 10.5.6 mysticus iso? or from previous ones, you updated? starting with 10.5.4? 10.5.5 ?
i will update bios on my machine as well to see the effects... someone mentioned before that updating bios to latest version, allowed him to control brightness manualy, if set to manual from bios... (this means we may not need QS after all, if what he said is true)

I only add voodoohda, voodoops2controller, voodoopower. I remove voodoohda and voodoopower but it didnt change anything.
I do not know what to try...
Still need qs to set brighness on 04CA even if set manually in bios. Under ubuntu 9.0.4 brightness adjustement works perfectly as it should... So, if it work on ubuntu, I assume that would be also possible on osx...

i suspect that voodoopower is still around your system... or by installing voodoopower, you broke the original powermanagement! therefore it explains your problems!
what else did you install? but fail to mention?

people fail to mention what they do, it misleads us who ever try to help...

May 18 2009, 10:14 PM
It is all I remember..... I will delete voodopower and try to find the original powermanagment and reinstall it hoping it will work. If not, I will probably have to do a fresch install :-(
I've also update my bios to 07CAD0 but I cannot see anychange in my mac osx. Nativ brightness keys still doesnt work.
I read somewhere that "with the effi" method, dsdt file is different if you have a nc10 with hsdpa or not. I have one with hsdpa. Could it be the problem? Is this also important with the mysticus.iso install cd ??
@Mysticus or someone else,
Could you please upload somewhere your extention folder. As last try before doing a fresh install, I would like to replace my extentions by a fully working set of extention. Normally it should work like this!
Thanks

Always with my sleep/wake up problem!!!!
I have clonned my system and have restore it on a friend nc10 (without umts,hsdpa modul), the slep/wake up works very good.
It means that there is somewhere a difference between nc10 with and without hsdpa modul.(mysticus.iso 10.5.6 followed by 10.5.7 update)
With nc10 umts, it is almost impossible to wake up the computer after a sleep.
What could be the fix for this? dstd ??
Advices are welcome

your claim is a bit too much, we need more confirmation from other nc10 owners with 3g modem models.... if they all have the same sleep/wake issue, your comment would be valid...
are you sure it just started after installing 10.5.7 update?
and are you sure you didnt damage anything in the powermanagement drivers? or installed different things?

I am not sure if it comes from 10.5.7 because I changed to umts model and update to 10.5.7 at the same time....
I am sure I didnt damage the powermanagement or installed other things becasue as I said, I clonned my hard drive in another nc10 without 3G and all worked perfectly. Exactly the same system (clonned with the apple disk utility) but on different hardware, at least different because of internal 3G modul.
Please could owner from nc10 3G (with install mysticus.iso updated to 10.5.7) control and confirm if the sleep, wake up (fn + esc) works ???
Later evening, if I have no other nc10 3G users confirmation, I will open my nc10, disconnect the 3G modul and see if there is difference...
Thanks in advance.

There is a difference between the DSD tables of non-3G NC10s and 3G NC10s - so if you're using a stock DSDT.aml then this will likely be incorrect.
Having said this, I have no idea whether this would have any effect, or even be corrected by the OS... or whether it might be the source of the sleep problems.
Of course, it could be a misinteraction with the 3G module itself or the internal adapter that it is connected to.
No guarantees, but you could try

Hi,
I didnt pay attention to the fact you cant do mirrored display with these drivers (oops). Now when I plug in an ext monitor the displays go all crazy. Is there a way I can turn off mirrored display now? The only way I seem to get the option is to plug in the monitor, at which time I cant see to click it.
I read there is a shortcut, command + F1 but that doesnt seem to work.

Thank you
Skvo!
thanx skvo, and teateam... i made an
installer for patched systems, for the package above, including hdaenabler..
package will remove previous applehda, voodoohda, azalia so no worries...
just install restart enjoy...
@teateam: can you pm me the details of modifications in the hda? would like to compare with my previous trials, and see if it was codec support or there were other problems? also it may help for future patching quickly... thanx again

Sleep with pluged AC power.Need DSDT patch. Very simple.
Find this block:
CODE
Device (USB2)
{
Name (_ADR, 0x001D0001)
OperationRegion (U2CS, PCI_Config, 0xC4, 0x04)
Field (U2CS, DWordAcc, NoLock, Preserve)
{
U2EN, 2
}
Name (_PRW, Package (0x02)
{
0x04,
0x03
})
Method (_PSW, 1, NotSerialized)
{
If (Arg0)
{
Store (0x03, U2EN)
}
Else
{
Store (Zero, U2EN)
}
}
Method (_S3D, 0, NotSerialized)
{
Return (0x02)
}
Method (_S4D, 0, NotSerialized)
{
Return (0x02)
}
}
We need _PSW method:
CODE
Method (_PSW, 1, NotSerialized)
{
If (Arg0)
{
Store (0x03, U2EN)
}
Else
{
Store (Zero, U2EN)
}
}
Replace method body:
CODE
Method (_PSW, 1, NotSerialized)
{
Store (Zero, U2EN)
}
Finish.

Did not try yet but thanks in advance. DSDT patch is the way to go! We could normaly fix brightness, get rid of clamshell.kext and also get a battery icon without any kext. I'm dreaming but it's possible!

Need HDAEnabler or DSDT patch like this:
CODE
DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0))
Return (Local0)
}
}
Doesn't work for me - on attempting to compile the modified DSDT, I get the following error:
CODE
Intel ACPI Component Architecture
ASL Optimizing Compiler version 20080926 [Oct 4 2008]
Copyright © 2000 - 2008 Intel Corporation
Supports ACPI Specification Revision 3.0a
DSDT.dsl.audio+sleep 2189: DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0))
Error 4063 - Object does not exist ^ (DTGP)
ASL Input: DSDT.dsl.audio+sleep - 5004 lines, 162005 bytes, 1728 keywords
Compilation complete. 1 Errors, 0 Warnings, 0 Remarks, 37 Optimizations
The fix appears to be as follows:
CODE
Method (DTGP, 5, NotSerialized)
{
If (LEqual (Arg0, Buffer (0x10)
{
/* 0000 */ 0xC6, 0xB7, 0xB5, 0xA0, 0x18, 0x13, 0x1C, 0x44,
/* 0008 */ 0xB0, 0xC9, 0xFE, 0x69, 0x5E, 0xAF, 0x94, 0x9B
}))
{
If (LEqual (Arg1, One))
{
If (LEqual (Arg2, Zero))
{
Store (Buffer (One)
{
0x03
}, Arg4)
Return (One)
}
If (LEqual (Arg2, One))
{
Return (One)
}
}
}
Store (Buffer (One)
{
0x00
}, Arg4)
Return (Zero)
}

Nope - doesn't work on either count

With the DSDT change and no AppleAzaliaAudio.kext, System Profiler does show the following information:
QUOTE
Intel High Definition Audio:
Device ID: 0x144DCA00
Audio ID: 12
Available Devices:
But the system finds no audio Input or Output devices. Have I misunderstood here - is a custom extension still needed even
with the DSDT fix for audio? I was under the impression that this change should enable audio with the stock 10.5.7 audio extensions.
Additionally, the system still immediately wakes from Sleep when mains power is connected - the change did not affect this.

i think you still need the patched hda driver, or legacy it into extras... and rename the kext as you like... i m not sure the change above will read audio specific information? rather injector for what hdaenabler does, but i may be wrong...
