Just got a few questions which i'm hoping someone could help me out with.

I've tried using the search but can't find the answers to my q's.

Anyway i've not got an nc10 yet but i'm looking to get one and to put osx on it, but my q's are as follows.

1. Is it possible to have dual boot windows 7 & osx
From what i've read I think hte windows 7 (and vista) bootloader is different - if this is accomodated what boot software should I be looking into? Any steps?

2. I dont think parallels will work on the nc10 but vmware fusion will?
Could anyone let me know if this is correct, and if so is it possible to have the windows 7 boot partition configured to be executable from within fusion within osx? Essentially to have the option of booting 7 (or xp) from boot or from within osx using the same partitiion?

Thanks in advance guys, like I say, I have tried looking but can't find the answers, I appreciate the nc10 isn't massively powerful so running 2 os's may not work well but just wondered if it were possible?

Thanks

NC10 and NC20 are different in hardware wise, completely different! NC20 is not compatible, although it is possible to install OSX on it, you will not enjoy it without gfx...

PHTC: all info/files you need is around, for boot problem, there is a bcedit software around to add tboot to your win7 bootloader from the ddmac package...

the rest is not hard, grab the nc10 iso, and install easily...

Hello,

i have installed the mysticus iso for samsung NC10 10.5.6 (thank you for yhis great job)

After that, I have installed a couple of things in order to solve small problems (ethernet, clone screen, brightness and so on...)

Now, I would like to install iLife 09. So, I tried to restore the install DVD that I got with my iMac (bundle software) on my usb key. When I launch the installation, it checks for something and then i've got the following error message "this software cannot be installed on this computer"

Do you have an idea of the problem?

Thank you for you help

wondering if the iso has been tested on the NC10 replacement, aka the N110?

Im getting one soon, so I'll give it a whirl if it hasn't already been tried.

Awesome dude. You rock.

I will probably end up posting a bunch of questions once this sweet little machine arrives in my hands. I have the iso downloaded and burned ready to go, and my external DVD writer is ready to go smile.gif

if you read my install guide, there is no need for a dvddrive either, everything can be done within same hdd... without needing any additional hardware smile.gif

Thought id inject a quick note here, as iam also interested. I found the iDeneb 10.5.6 distro to be the best in terms of use and functionality. I didn't go with the Samsung or any of the netbooks because in US too close in price to larger notebooks. Bought a Compaq CQ60-211DX for $379 USD which about the price of the Samsung. Anyway the iDeneb distro has installs on the DVD for Acer, Samsung, MSI netbooks on it set to install. I mention all this because the SAMSUNG netbook install worked the best even on the Compaq! I Used GParted to add a new OSX partition to my HD (which of cousre has Vista); booted off the iDeneb Cd I'd burnt and in 15 mins I had Leopard 10.5.6 installed and working great! Probs with the
Compaq was the intell 4500 chipset so graphics defaulted which means no iDVD, Final Cut, or iWork which is bummer -- fell back on MSOfiice for now; no WiFi bough a Hawking USB wireless works great--found a conexant sound driver for sound works great (with one annoyance: have to plug in headphone jack, then unplug it on each power up to get sound from internal speakers). Laptop runs faster on Leopard than on Vista partition. Handiest thing about iDeneb: it installs chameleon bootloader automacticaly, so you get boot up screen for all bootable partitions!
I'm saving money for Samsung, though and may buy one because of its handy size as opposed to larger Compaq.
This forum really handy and helpful. Thanks

* thanx for your information, but you posted in a wrong section...
* if you want to discuss ideneb, please discuss it on ideneb topics...
* if you wanna discuss your compaq go to a compaq topic...
* for your compaq issue, you will stuck with the gfx problem forever since it is not really intel gfx chip to begin with (intel bought the tech from another company dont remember the details, and also no support in osx at all! will not have any support in the future either as intel gfx are now dumped from the macs...)
* Forum is handy and helpful as long as people do not posts on wrong sections

I installed touch screen according to your guide.it worked fine initially.A fter 30 min i noticed a strange thing, whenever i touched the screen the curser ued to jump to a fixed place on the screen. The position remained same in windows and osX and i was not able to use the touch screen.I removed the bezel and tested again to ruleout any physical pressure over the touchscreen, but no use.Mysticus can you please suggest me possible fix.Thank you for your tutorial

+ first i would check for calibration... if nothing wrong with calibration, then it sounds more like a hardware failure, either fault board, or crashed/squezed/pressured touch module!

+ check for pressure in any side? can cause crack! see if there is any crack? (this is the most common problem people face when they install the touchscreen modules! they overtighten the screen, they dont remove the side support metals (which increases height and pressure) etc...
+ check for cabling if you somehow damage/squeze the cable when you are closing the bezel or back cover, make sure there are cuts on the cables, else you may short...

Great! My N110 arrived 3 weeks early, so I'm stoked to get into this.. I read through your guide, and while its a tad more complicated than i'd prefer, I'm sure I can follow it if I'm patient.

Was wondering, one thing I don;t fully understand is why I need to me 3 separate partitions to install OSX... I was hoping to triple boot my machine as Win7 (~70gb partition) OS X (~35 gb partition) and Ubuntu (~35 GB partition.

So im a little confused as to why OSX need 3 separate partitions for installation.

Sorry for my noobish questions!

those are recommended not necessary! thinking this is noob-friendly guide, if you know what you are doing, you do not need to follow certain parts that you understand the reason.

for example,
only one partition is needed for osx to be installed!
2nd partition is for a clone/or/backup
3rd partition is for a backup/or/data

purposes...

the rest of the thinking is up to you smile.gif

the guide is step by step guide, if you go through it with the intention of understanding you will see what i mean... it is like robotic smile.gif left not much AI to be done... meaning not much thinking, just read/see and do it...

I had the biggest problems with the touchscreen. With me the mouse would often be stuck at the far corner of the screen. Since this was also the case when I unplugged the screen but left the controller connected, the problems must have been the controller. Apparently there are cheap fakes around. You might have to send yours in. I couldn't do that because in frustration I ripped everything out and chucked it into the bin. All 80 pounds of it.

Haha...yeah I saw the update earlier and just tried to install it. It didn't boot up at first in OSX and auto-restarted but the 2nd time it booted up in OSX. The resolution now is 800x600 with no other option. Everything else seems to be running fine. Anyone know how to get my resolution back to native?

auto restart is because of the installation process, requires some files to be installed at the restart rather then during update, thefore the auto-restart is perfectly normal, and expected!

however for your gfx issue, you will need to wait a bit... i m bussy, but will be making patches installer for this update this week... smile.gif

Oh, don't waste your time trying to get a fix on my gfx. I did the update knowing that it could mess stuff up because I am planning to install a 320GB 7200rpm drive anyways. Not sure if the question from above got answered though, with installing Win7 & OSX (no XP) would work fine. I assume it would but if I know it's not going to work, I would probably just do XP & OSX again and dual-boot vs. tri-boot. Thanks for all your work Mysticus, no way I would be able to get stuff installed without your work.

win 7 + osx should work. but make sure:

1- use external hdd (with ddmaced dvd iso) or external dvdrom
2- boot dvd
3- partition the hdd as you like! (3 partitions at least preferebly 4!)
1 for osx, 1 for win7, 1 for data/backup for win, 1 for data/backup for osx (Partitions as HFS+ Journaled, DOS/FAT *later will be converted to ntfs by windows, dos/fat, hfs+ journaled,) partition as MBR preferebly, although guid would work just fine as well:)
4- install osx first
5- install win7 next
6- you will need to add tboot from ddmac package to your win partition, and add the tboot option to win7 bootloader either manually or using bcedit! whichever suits u better, which i will explain later in a different guide...

this will ensure win7 and osx can work just fine.... as you will have your partitions ready already, win7 should not create another partition of its own!

if you install win7 first, it creates an system/boot partition of its own system files seperate than the windows installation partition!... which causes the bootloader for osx not work properly i think...

good luck...

10.5.7 dvd iso is on the way as well smile.gif

yeh I have the same issue!

I previously installed using the same instructions and everything went fine, I since have replaced the nc10 hd for a larger drive and replaced the wifi card, all before trying the install, I vaguely remember reading somewhere that you might have to install osx *before* replacing the wifi card... is that correct?

Any help appreciated.

ok server is having some issues, and dont know when it will be back, so I m gonna finish the samsung update patches in about 10 mins, and it will be ready in usual place smile.gif

update contents will be:

+ GMA950 patched
+ FB patched
+ Airport (with all the device ids included)
+ SMBiosResolver (this will remove the applesmbiosefi, and this way it fixes processor being detected as 1.6ghz rather than whopping 4.1 ghz smile.gif and fixes bus speed as 533 rather than 100!)
+ Natit this will ensure smooth transition as some of you may be using old-fb therefore screen wont come up, until you install either old fb, or natit...

No need for ethernet patch as built-in drive now supports our card smile.gif but still shows MAC as 1-2-3-4-5 way... but i will provide another command line tool to patch to your own real MAC given that you enter your MAC address into the file...

3-) Install Official Delta or Combo Update (DO NOT RESTART!!!! MINIMIZE ONLY after INSTALL FINISHED)
4-) Install Samsung NC10 10.5.7 Post Update Patches.pkg (RESTART NOW)
5-) Wait Patiently, as system will restart one more time before it goes to GUI, which is normal and comes from original UPDATE!!!

Just one thing, unzip the Post update patch before you do the apple update, as because files have been replaced, it won't let you unzip the file even using stuff-it after the apple update had been installed. Even doing on my other hackintosh and putting on a usb stick was no good, as it didn't see the drive. I had force a shut down then boot from my external drive backup, then in stalled the package to my internal drive. If I didn't have an external bootable drive, I may have been stuffed.

Hi guys, silly question alert!

If I upgrade my 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 is there any chance it will furbar my dual boot with windows 7?

Thanks in advance.

Super, forum is back!!!

Dual boot is still ok after update, it doesnt touch the bootloader, at least mine!

I have a problem with the wake up after a normal sleep on the batterie.

My config :

Mysticus 10.5.6 install then Update to 10.5.7.
Chameleon 2 RC.
I have set the hibernate sleep mod to 0.

When I press fn + esc to put the nc10 to sleep, it works. But the computer doesn't wake up even if I push on the power button.

Is it possible to correct this ?? It worked before with my old configuration.

Thanks for advice and help.

Thanks for reply. I found it yesterday but forum was down, impossible to edit my post !
I edited the appleyukon2 and now my mac adress is corrected reported by the system.

Concerning the sleep issue, I do not know if it comes from chameleon 2 rc or the update because I have done the 2 news things almost together, but I am sure it worked very well before.
I will install one of your boot image to delete the chameleon bootloader and will see if the sleep mod work.

I will also do a donation.
