Oh dudes , I see :s , that is so bad , so nothing exist for the moment for a scrolling gesture for the trackpad ? sad.gif

It's kind of weird I thought I used that at the beginning when I just installed MAC OS X on my NC10 , maybe I was dreaming "^^.

I hope something will come soon, because it's very annoying not to be able scrolling up and down on the NC10 trackpad x(.

I don't use a mouse and I really need it "^^.

Thanks guys for both of your answers wink.gif.

Can I delete the ddmac partition (where the ISO has been installed) after the installation is finished, or is it still needed for something (e.g. boot or so?)?

Cheers

I tried to connect the nc10 to a external VGA projector and it does not work.

I found that when I plugged in my projector the screen went crazy with vertical lines. What I did was blindly find the rotation dropdown and set it to 180. It helps if you put voiceover on to find it.

This fixed the vertical lines and then I put my projector in front/ceiling projection mode to flip the image back. Good luck.

Does anybody know if Parallels will work on the NC10?

I know VMWare works but I heard that Parallels works better for Windows Games.

Thank you for your time

VGA QUESTIONS:
vga output working on all patched drivers. however, it is only for "Desktop Extensions", if you want CLONE output as well, go to BIKE TOWN NC10 files section, and download and install the old fb driver for clone screen!

TOUCHPAD:
this is getting the most annoying question every now and then! there is no multi-touch driver for PS/2, in fact no ps/2 driver... We all using patched stuff. Multi-touch drivers are for USB interface touchpads that apple using, and you cant mix apples for oranges... Apples are apples, oranges are oranges! The trackpad driver that is supplied is to gain the trackpad menu, not for multitouch gestures...

I've only tried VMWARE with the windows partition... and no luck ... it isn't working
so you'll have to create your own windows image on Mac partition
at least, with VMWARE (I haven't tried it with Parallels)

Hi, great tutorial! I'm half way through now.
A few questions

I have installed a dell 1490....and NC10Jax861056InE23_Myst 10.5.6

Do I need the airport-fix-for-bcm43xx-adapters.pkg? if so why, thought it was out the box
How do I install these packages? will it be obvious?
What about the bluetooth fix and trackpad full? Are they already in the 10.5.6 distro?

Thanks in advance

Hi!
I've installed Mac OS thanks to Mysticus DVD, and all works great! Thanks a lot for your hard work!

I've noticed that when a SD card is in the reader, my NC10 doesn't go into sleep mode, it freezes with a black screen! This is absolutely not a problem for me, but I think it may help some of you who work on the Sleep issue, and I don't remember a post about this.

Hope it may help! rolleyes.gif

Ok, so I have managed to run the pkg's, the problem I was having was that I had unzipped them in windows. Don't unzip them on your pc, do it on the mac

I'm still having problems with the keyboard tho

" comes out as @
£ is OK so makes me think its set to UK alright
@ comes out as "
\ doesn't work
| doesn't work

There's is probably more too.
I have installed uk_keyboard_layout_fix.pkg.zip any ideas whats happening

My dell 1940 worked straight away, without the airport-fix-for-bcm43xx-adapters.pkg.zip. So Do I need it?

TIA

I am also using the Dell 1490 Card and with Mac OS X it worked OTB, but with XP I am still struggeling. I used the drivers for 1490 from Dell and tried to install them manually. Unfortunately I always get an error message (Code 39). Which drivers did you use? It's a Dell 1490 card (Broadcom 4312).

i used

install them manually as it said no hardware found, let it extract them to c:\dell, then in device manage, go update driver and point it to the directory. All installed and informed me of wireless networks straight away

this is the one i bought, not sure if it was a proper dell or not, its in now so cant see what it says
on it

There are links on the ebay page too to other drivers that I didn't try

If you had read back through this thread you would have found the answers.... Both have been asked a number of times before... Have you selected the new keyboard layout that you installed via 'International' in 'System Prefs'?

In fact, the keyboard question is answered in THE VERY FIRST POST IN THIS THREAD!

Hi Folks,

10.5.4 works a charm, trying to get my hands on the torrent of the ppf applied ISO (NC10 10.5.6 ISO) from Demonoid.com. Can anyone pass it on to me or invite me to join? I'm not very tech savvy, savvy and upgrading seems a little difficult as I'm just after getting my head around installing Mac OS!

Thanks alot,

WHAT IS SO HARD ABOUT UPDATING?

MANUALLY DOWNLOAD 10.5.6 COMBO UPDATE PACKAGE

I realize this is at complete n00b question. But I have no experience with demonoid.
I finally managed to find the NC10Jax861056InE23_Myst 10.5.6 on is0hunt. But seems there are no seeders. At least not from TPB. Demonoid is marked with "? seeds". Also I can't connect to the demonoid tracker through Vuze. I probably need an account right? Can anyone please send me an invite? I would be very greatfull.

I haven't bought my nc10 yet, but am going to. Not least because of you guys. Many thanks!
I know you have put an extraordinary amount of energy into this - especially Mysticus. When I get going i will donate.

Indeed but I installed from MSIWindosx86.iso, not Jas 10.5.4. So now that I know how to do the process I'm just going to start a fresh. Also I want to reshuffle the amount of storage I originally gave as I'm going to put TM on an external drive. I've since found the torrent file anyways, thanks to medusa. My appreciations.

You are welcome. However i also found this:
http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1764...;ref=1232240284
Which is considerably larger, so i'm thinking maybe the one on isohunt is missing something?

EDIT: Believe it or not. I actually had read the post where someone refers to the txt. I just didn't realize where it was. For any other n00bs around, having same difficulties as me:
There is a txt with rapidshare and shragle DL-links. It is in the "Samsung NC10 files section" linked to from page 1. Currently file is 2. from the top.

Once I found it, spelling it out here really seems too obvious - figured to do it anyways as I don't seem to be the only one who is confused.

I tried those DL links but it's much better if you sign up and pay in order to download otherwise it takes an eternity. Yep I'm not getting any seeds either with the torrent file medusa. Could someone please please invite me to demonoid.com? Just shove my username against @me.com extension and that's my address. I'd be much obliged and would pass on the favour to by inviting others and keeping my torrent downloader open to provide seeding.

With my laptop:
On Mains:
- Close lid/sleep will black out the screen and I had to hold the power button down to power it off. When I restart it acts like the laptop goes into deepsleep at the time I put it to sleep. This I think what makes NC10s cant sleep on mains, it thinks its going into hibernate and write the ram onto the sleepimage (S2/S3-which I dont know anything about rolleyes.gif ) making it impossible to wake back up, but the kernel still thinks its going to sleep so it didnt power down at all.
- Deep Sleep widget will make the screen go white for a sec and after 5 second or so all the power is gone. I boot back up and on the screen instead of apple boot logo (pc_efiv9 still have this instead of chameleon v6 which killed it) it said start hibernation, rotating ascii wheel and then Wake Kernel and it acts like ity just woke up from normal sleep, ie same state when I click on Deep Sleep widget (this I assume what hibernation does on a mac)

On battery:
- Close lid/sleep will make it go to normal sleep and pushing the power button will wake it back up.
- Deep sleep widget acts exactly like mains.

My NC10 isn't sleeping when I close the lid, do I have to change some setting to get it to sleep using the lid? It will sleep if I tell it too. Deep Sleep widget only seemed to make it sleep not hibernate.

Sorry to the person that complained I hadn't done a search for the keyboard issue, I was rushing a bit ( as i was at work trying to install it)and missed the point that the keyboard was UK and not British, I had used the international settings, but set British. And believe me I have read alot of this thread, but it is getting ridiculous now at over 84 pages, we could do with a summarry thread or something, or a section for nc10 with threads for keyboard, bluetooth, etc to make it better and easier to share people expertise maybe .

Sorry if I'm a pain

most of the issues people are reporting are caused by not reading carefully!

please read the post#1 carefully...

it explains the issues, and solutions.

most solutions/patches are in nc10 files section with appropriate titles if you understand!

For Example:

post#1 states that multi-touch does not work, many people still ask for it!

post#1 and the main install guide states that EDB setting should be enabled, almost everyone still misread it, or didnt read it at all, or some read it and confirmed that they did it, even in front of their eyes, they cant see it is disabled, and get loops...

in the install guide, i specifically said to click customize and choose nc10 option, there are still people ignoring it with next next next habit....

i rearranged the post#1, but i know the fact that people dont read carefully, and will still complain about already explained problems...

If it's that easy I might as well go ahead and download Jas 10.5.4, then do the update. Cheers Mysticus. All the PPF patching business throws noobs like myself way off. I Still don't know what a PPF is. Appreciations for the time and efforts put in to this. Hopefully once I'm finished I can use my NaC1nt0sh just like a regular Mac.

hi,

today i wanted to watch a movie with my nc10 using osx. i connected the vga cable from the beamer and it worked. but i wanted to have the screen mirrored so i checked the mirror option. after that both screens were overcrowded with stripes and other stuff, the screen was not readable anymore so i had no chance to uncheck the mirror option.
maybe it is just a resolution problem, i don't know. when i disconnect the vga cable the nc10 screen becomes readable again. reboot didn't help. even turning the beamer off doesn't help. when i connect the cable, the nc10 screen is not usable anymore.

can anyone help please?

@Mysticus

i understand that you get angry when so many people ask the same questions. i read the guide very carefully and not only once, and i think a lot of the others did this, too. but i'm a beginner and i never saw an osx installation before so that wasn't something easy to me. and then i saw that my installation differed from the guide. and i believe the customize button isn't there anymore respectively it has another name, but i'm not 100% sure. and when i click it, the options look also different from the guide. so people get insecure, at least i was.

please don't get me wrong. you did great work with the iso and the guide, it is just that i think beginner don't really know what they should do when the help guide differs from the installtion and the installation doesn't work.

ok if someone asks if lan is working or so, i would be angry, too. it is clear stated on the first post.

apart from that, i have problems with this forum. everytime i use the search i don't get any results. i don't know what i'm doing wrong.

ppf is a binary difference patch to make things easier. For example, I took a Jas DVD, and applied necessary changes (add/remove files and settings) and have finaly nc10 DVD, some of you already has JAS, so ppf come to 1.5 gb size, to download, and applying it is only 3 steps, source choosen=jas, ppf choosen=nc10 ppf, apply the patch done!

instead of d/l 4.4 gb, you download 1/3 size.... with ppf (you only get the changes made to dvd, instead of full re-download)

if you dont have anything, you have more options still to go straight to 10.5.6, if u checked the Bike Town...

no need to go to jas=>ppf=>10.5.6... you can get 10.5.6 straight as well... just read/check correctly...

Hi,
I want my nc10 to sleep on lid closure, I have read there is an addon clamshell.kext, and a shortcut to the developer at http://www.superhai.com/darwin.html, but I can't find it on there. it has links to something called voodoopower. Is this the same? Can anyone send me a link to the kext?

I also want to get hibernation working, and have downloaded deep sleep widget. Is there anyway to force the nc10 to hibernate instead of sleep. People have said in this forum theirs is working, but not said how it is working. I have the sleep image file in /private/var/vm folder, same size as my ram, but no luck.I have changed the option in the widget to deep sleep on power and battery... it doesn't work on either ( i think it wont work on power anyway reading up on it).

heres my settings

ctive Profiles:
Battery Power -1*
AC Power -1
Currently in use:
sleep 10
displaysleep 2
hibernatefile /var/vm/sleepimage
hibernatemode 5
halfdim 1
disksleep 10
ttyskeepawake 1

does that help anyone see whats wrong?

TIA

Hello,

Thank you for all the work you do to help poeple to get osx running on the nc10.
I 've Just bought a nc10 last week and of course installed osx on it.
I've done exactly has discribed in the guide except for the partition scheme, I also use the good iso. I used the final 10.5.6 Jas Mystic NC10 one.

All goes very well, I am very happy.

I have just a small problem, the boot screnn (apple) when I start osx is not at the good scale or is stretched.
I read the full thread and saw that other poeple had the same issue. I try to modify the boot.plist file as describe in a reply in this thread but without result.

I read that it could be related to a wrong video card driver but I do not remember to have change something on this.

Please, has someone find a solution of this or wich file driver must I check ??
I know that it is not very important but I would like to have osx good from the boot process.

Thanks for your help.

Hi

Just registered to say thanks really.

Mysticus C* - loving my nc10 even more now, thank you for your hard work and great instructions. i carefully read everything, understood the limitations, re-read the first post again and again, and was able to install and configure osx no problem (chose to use a USB DVD drive as it was handy, with the 10.5.6 iso from rapidshare downloads). Installed a BCM4311KFBG (1390) card which works great in both OSX and XP

Thanks again

Dear Mysticus C*

Many thanks for your guide file. I have installed 10.5.5 since 2 months ago based on your instruction.
Today I purchase Dell 1390 according to your recommendation. Meanwhile, I can access to internet via Wifi.

According to Guide v2, I install "Brightness Icon pkg". However, computer could not be adjust when I press button. Would I need to update to 10.5.6 to order to enable this function ?

Besides, I would like to update to 10.5.6. Would I do like this ?
1. install 10.5.6 combo update packing
2. Don't restart
3. Install NC10.5.6 install pack
4. Restart

Is it correct ? any further patches should I install.
Many thanks.

Besides, I would like to update to 10.5.6. Would I do like this ?
1. install 10.5.6 combo update packing
2. Don't restart
3. Install NC10.5.6 install pack
4. Restart

Is it correct ? any further patches should I install.
Many thanks.

UPDATE PROCESS CORRECT, however, some additional patches will be required due to further improvements and additional workarounds found...

some of them are: brightess icon package, bluetooth (to enable/disable bluetooth whenever you want), trackpad (for trackpad menu enabler, not for multi-touch or scrolling, only for enabling prefpane menu), old fb if you want clone function (note that desktop extension works already, just clone has trouble with new fb)

good luck...

i used

install them manually as it said no hardware found, let it extract them to c:\dell, then in device manage, go update driver and point it to the directory. All installed and informed me of wireless networks straight away

this is the one i bought, not sure if it was a proper dell or not, its in now so cant see what it says
on it

There are links on the ebay page too to other drivers that I didn't try

Thanks a lot for your help! I tried them all, but none worked. The card is recognized by the system as Dell 1490, but unfortunately I still get Error 39 under XP. I have idea how to solve this. Any ideas?

Cheers

which part you dont understand that you need to install it manually!

All those installers are checking Brand specific stuff to block people from installing out of Brand installations!

The only way is to go through installing manually... Have you ever installed a driver manually, by going through device manager, and manual install by picking/poingthing the driver...

What I did Marco was run the installer, the first thing it will do is unzip the files to C:\dell\drivers... then go into Device Manager find the adapter, right click and update/install driver. In the wizard don't install automatically but choose the location for windows to find the driver, i.e C:\dell\drivers\R140747\DRIVER and continue. Installation should be fine mine worked without a restart.

Thanks for your help! That's exactely the way I did with multiple drivers from dell and all the others I found, but it still gives me Error 39. I will search a little bit for different drivers and maybe I'll get it running.

i wont kill you, but will let you know that you have to read around first before you jump on asking something....

to get headphone working,
1) you need to install azaliaaudio driver which you can find all around the forum, if you just google it... (to install azaliaaudio driver: first you need to uninstall delete/or/move) AppleHDA driver!, because they are both providing same functions! so it will conflict with eachother)

2) you need to install CHUD package (if you started with nc10 10.5.6 iso, CHUD is installed already, so no need to install)

3) you need to use audiee to switch better headphone

You need to read around to understand how to use terminal or other tools to install drivers, etc... I mentioned the problems/solutions in the first post, but people find it easy to just ignore reading it, ignore searching around, and jump to last page and start posting, and expect to be not scolded....
