QUOTE (Sixpaq @ Jan 25 2009, 11:46 PM)

I have tried all the obvious fixes, even if they're actually meant to fix other problems. Recovery with F4 does nothing, wiping the partition and reinstalling does nothing. If I set the VISTA (not XP, guys) partition back to active, it boots with no problems. Also I think (but am not sure) that Vista doesn't have a boot.ini anymore.
I'm kinda stumped here. Anyone multibooting OSx86 with Vista or W7 around here? Cause I don't know if it's an NC10 issue, or something general.
You do need the vista (if you dont have xp) as active, or you can put the osx as active. At least you need an active partition and that is probably the reason for your boot1 problem. If you have vista and you do not get the bootoption for osx automatically use
easybdf 2.0, it sets up a mac osx bootoption under vista very easily. I have one multiboot with w7, osx and xp.
@ beyondthetech: Yes the time is off, in my case only by one hour (do you have your time zones set right). It is already discussed and Mysticus explained that it is due to how osx and xp read the computer time in a different way. The syncing is the only fix this far.

you have to install it manually!
by selecting location/driver yourself!
another way would be, right clicking on the inf (driver info) and clicking INSTALL on right click menu...

I have a standard Mysticus NC10 notebook with Mac0s and XP. I want to try the new Windows 7 beta. I am going to back up my XP with Acronis so I can restore it later. Would reformating the XP partition and installing Win 7 mess up the ability to boot into Mac? Or what should I do to keep it working?
Does anyone know of a backup utility that can make a complete image of the NC10 with all the partitions, including the Mac ones? It would be nice to be able to do bare metal restore if something goes wrong.

I'm pretty sure that it would mess up your booting, since xp and windows 7/vista use different bootloaders.
try "hirens boot cd", run it from a usb stick, choose "mini xp version", and thereafter "ghost32", it can create images of disks, partitons etc.

Has anyone with the Dell 1505 wifi card tried to connect to a Time Capsule (which I think uses the same wireless N as any newer airport router) on a N network (i.e. not G connection to the time capsule)? I recently tried the wireless N on a MSI Wind (via Windows) and it could not connect to my time capsule so I guess N is very much still a draft...

Hi everybody,
at first I have to thank the hole osx86 community and their developers for great work.
This is my first post, I read hundreds, what enabled me to sucessfully install osx on 1 desktop machine and 3 laptops.
Jas 10.5.6, modified by mysticus for nc10, is installed on my new nc10 and running like a charm.
But I can´t find solutions for the following problems and would be really happy if someone has ideas on solving.
(dsdt patch already applied)
1. Sleep
manually going into sleep works but not:
- on closing the lid -------- found a solution in the bay. A nice hai(shark) programmed a super kext called clamshell :-) danke dir !
- automatically (settings in system preferences tab "Energy Saver") ------clamshell didn´t solved the automatic issue :-(
(- never when the powerjack is plugged( known issue, not a big problem for me))
Lid and automatic are the biggest issues to me.
deepsleep would be nice, i read netkas instructions with efiv9 an will try it later.
2. other problems (just byside, not that important)
- even after setting the system language to german some parts remain english (main menu, finder(but not the finder settings :-), system preferences....)
- the harddisk is clicking (park positioning) every 15 seconds, seems to be agressive powerManagment, to be honest this is important as it will shrink the lifetime of the disk rapidly ;-( ( i shall contact samsung for that, cause it happens in every OS)
- does someone knows a way to save a password for specific software ? (solved wifi with the kismac trick, but am fed up of entering my password all the time :-) )
- the known audio issue ( are there working kexts somewhere to get the internal mic and the mic jack working ? no häh would have been written her :-( )
thank you for the attention in advance and sorry for my ugly english :-)
grüße aus Berlin

Yes, there is a working audio switch script for NC10 as well.
You can download it from the following address:
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=37873And before you post that it's not working with you, be sure that you have the following items installed:
1) Azalia driver for Audio

ok guys, touchscreen has arrived, and installed it in couple of hours

guide with pics rather than video (sorry video proved to be hard to control while doing the process...)
good thing is it is not hard to install the touchscreen, however couple of stages requires extreme attention to detail and sensitivity, and almost come to a point screwing the whole thing

luckily it is working fine in both windows and OSX, and working quite well

bad thing is it is not multi-touch

What you will need for temporary audio solution till voodoo hda kext comes out.chud tools (on Mysticus C's Bike Town site or Apple)
azalia driver (
http://www.mediafire.com/?enez1guzz1g)
and the switch.sh script (
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=37873) thanks real rooster
Process.
Install chud tools
install azalia driver (it will back up your applehda.kext)
then open terminal application
drop the switch.sh onto terminal window
then hit return
it will ask for password
go ahead and enter password
hit return
it will show some sort of processing then say switching to HP (for headphones)
when its complete you are all set.
to go back to speakers
open terminal application again
drop the switch.sh onto a terminal window
hit return
it will once again ask for password
hit return
it will run some sort of process
and say switching to SK or SP i forget (which means speaker)
done.
you will have to do that every time unless you use something called spark to set it to some sort of Fn button like f7
i was hoping to make it a automator app but I dont have time
also settings doesn't technically save after restart/reboot... you have to run the script twice once to go fom HP to SP... (even though it is set for HP still comes out SP, then run the script again to go from SP to HP and it will once again play through HP)
You guys gave me an idea.
every time you post something saying I got xyz to work... also post what you did and what you needed. And people can comment and add to it, etc.If you find your self asking what is terminal app, or if this explanation seems a lil over your head, please do not attempt this at home. Please direct all your questions in the forum if you have trouble. And like all things YMMV

Jan 29 2009, 12:54 AM
Sounds like switch.sh is just a shell script (sh,bash, etc) In OS X you can name it .command rather then .sh and it will run it through terminal for you. Could also add a hot key, etc.

bios is f2 on boot, hope that melps!
just thought I would mention something that is on the msiwind forum in different places, that there are some apps that have a fixed minimum screen height (prefs, imovie, osx86tools) you can change the pref files to shrink the windows to fit the nc10s 600 high screen, the terminal command is:
defaults write com.apple.systempreferences AppleDisplayScaleFactor .85
defaults write com.pcwiz.OSX86Tools AppleDisplayScaleFactor .85
defaults write com.apple.photobooth AppleDisplayScaleFactor .85
defaults write com.apple.imovie7 AppleDisplayScaleFactor .85
I hope that helps a lot of people and you can apply it to any app and scale with any number, to return the app to standard you just set the last number to 1
Also many thanks to Mysticus for a well put together package, I have a patched dvd image which may well find its way onto usenet in the next few days once I have sorted out the par files!
