Hi,
I have installed this Distro and it works very good out of the box.
But I have a problem with the system-language.
If I set the language to german, the preferences and the finder are not set to german. Most options are in english and only a few are in german.
Other programms are ok.
I did not have this problem with iDeneb 1.3.
So what can I do?

Well, I've tried everything to get my Dell 1490 card working in XP. Tried several different drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling, etc. Every time, I get this message:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
So I guess my options now are to reinstall windows XP or maybe get a different card (Dell 1390)?

I recently bought a Dell 1505 from ebay and used the broadcom drivers mentioned a page or two back on this thread and it worked fine in XP, if that's any help.

Are you saying that the brightness scripts still work for you, even after you sent the NC10 to sleep and woke it up again?
Jay Zee-
That is what I'm saying (just did it to double check). To be sure, I don't keep Quicksilver running in the background, however. I just run the script, lower my brightness, and then turn Quicksilver off. But even then, after lowering my brightness, I can go to sleep, wake it back up, and the brightness is still at the lowered setting I left it at.
And, just in case I'm reading your question another way: The Quicksilver script also works when I make adjustments after waking from sleep (but again, I wake computer, I run Quicksilver, alter brightness, then quit Quicksilver).
I realize that you may keep Quicksilver running all of the time, so I don't know if what I'm talking about here applies to the issue you are finding.

Hi Mysticus,
I have found this package
http://soleilblog.hp.infoseek.co.jp/2finger/2finger-wind.pkg in a chinese forum which enables scrolling on msiwind in mac.
i tried to install it onto nc10 it works in some way but obviously not very accurate.
I am no expert so i just want to share this information to see if it helps to develop a package for nc10 users.
i might have been brave, but i am not sure how i can "uninstall" this package

.
thanks.
Edit: setting Library\Preferences\com.apple.driver.PS2Trackpad.plist "ZAcceptThreshold" value to 70 makes it better on nc10.

3. WLAN I spent way too many hours trying to get the stock WLAN card to work. Using the hints from many forums on the web I managed to get it working several times using a hacked Atheros kext and KisMAC to set the card into passive mode. In the end, however, this turned out to be more frustrating than anything else because it wouldn't work reliably. So I bought a random BCM4311-based card (checked eBay) and it worked out of the box. No need to mention that this got rid of the setup loop problem, too (see above).
To run the BCM4311 under XP I found
this site and chose the latest driver package, installed it using the device manager and it just works.
THANK YOU! The link to the Broadcom driver you provided finally got my Dell DW1490 working on Windows XP. Just click the link above, download the most recent driver (at the top of the list), unzip it, and point your Add Hardware Wizard to the folder location. Done. Whew!
I don't know if this has been covered, but before I install OSX using Mysticus' technique, is there any way to resize my 160gb HD partitions? When I first got the NC10, I set up the C: partition as 120gb, there is 30gb left unallocated (for Mac OSX) and the rest is recovery volume. Is there anyway to shrink up the 120gb partition and add the space to the future Mac partition?
Thanks!

Partition managers like Partition magic will do the job. I have to use it because the XP util can't format FAT32 for the D: ddmac setup
Only choice I had was NTFS
With PM I do the FAT32 formatting.

Is your system completely up to date? Try by using "Softwareaktualisierung".
You should also repair permissions.

Normally, the language package isn't responsible for the trackpad-prefpane. If trackpadprefpane isn't in place, it's because the vendor id wasn't deleted in the package of the prefpane. It's no matter of the language. The only issue you could have had was at 10.5.5 if you had the german.pkg installed and active, you've not been able to open trackpad settings. You had to switch to english before you've been able to open the settings. But that was the old Keyboard & Mouse prefpane. Now there is a stand-alone prefpane wich has to be modified before it shows up. Otherwise you won't be able to ad it to system preferences. Again, that's no matter of language, it's because of the vendor ID inside the prefpane.
SilSha, try another german.pkg. I've used the german.pkg from an original leo dvd and it works without any problems.

@-benir & SilSha: Did you install the german.pkg BEFORE updating your system or after that?
Please both explain your way of installation, for eg did you first create a 10.5.6 iso file or did you install the 10.5.4 original package and updated step by step to 10.5.6?
Maybe this makes the difference...

maybe you should try to re-install your system or re-install by going the old way that worked fine for me using the JaS 10.5.4 and the first NC10 Package from Mysticus and perform a step-by-step update to 10.5.6.
You can also post your console-logs here, maybe someone can read out of it the failure.
Otherwise try the method of creating a new user-account mit admin rights and see if the issue still occurs.

I'm on Mysticus's 10.5.6, installed from the pre built image that was doing the rounds on demonoid. My usage patterns of the NC10 vary very much, so unless it really is a radical change I'm not sure how obvious any improvements will be.
Installation was dead simple - just dropped the kext into kexthelper and rebooted
I'll give it a full charge, and turn the brightness to lowest, and see how long the system reports it can run for.

Ok just a lil sidestep in my usage, problems and stuff i want.
I was noticing in my network prefs that the wifi or airport was labeled as Bluetooth PAN so I changed the name of it to Airport and deleted the second instance of airport underneath it. (big mistake). it disconnected and then I had no airport so I made another airport instance and was able to get airport back but now it said airport not configured even though I was conencted to internet. So the icon in the menu bar looked as if I wasnt connected.
So luckily like mysticus said keep a backup. I found my system configuration folder swaped them out and was back to normal. renamed the bluetoothPAN to Airport Main and left the remaining ones untouched.
Not sure if anybody else has a similar settings. But be careful with your network prefs.. i have a dell 1505 it shows up as a third party adapter those who have a native airport controller will have no problems i think... otherwise the dell 1505 works OOTB... I am just a stickler i was bored and had to play with the settings.
is there something I can edit so that it doesnt show up as third party adapter?
Ok, so here is some things i was researching not sure if I should do it
you can edit it somethings so that when you go to about this mac it shows your processor name (instead of unknown) and your serial if you type them in manually) anybody do that?
Also if you have other macs...if you look in any finder window and you see your samsung nc10 connected it shows the icon as iMac instead of a laptop icon under the shared category... Anybody know how to edit this. I want it to show a laptop icon.
I know who cares right. but I want the conversion to be complete.
Also did anybody have sound via headphones I still cant get it to work
thanks

Superhai's powermanagement kext works!
To add a nice touch to your 'about this Mac' screen: open /System -> Library -> CoreServices -> loginwindow.app -> Contents -> Resources -> English.lproj -> AboutThisMac.strings. Look for this line: "ABOUT_BOX_SINGLE_PROCESSOR_FIELD_FORMAT" = "%@". Change "%@" to "1.6 GHz Intel Atom" or something you like. You might have to edit permissions before saving the file.

After installing a dell 1490 I too encountered the bluetooth pan problem. Bluetooth pan... not connected.
