Trying to install Vista 5342 on the hardware listed below. The install starts and does the copy of all the files from the DVD. When Vista then reboots, I get the starting Windows screen, and then my monitor just flashes for lack of a better turn. It LOOKS like the screen is powering off and on, but the power light doesn't flicker in the least. Any thoughts on this?

how long did you wait?
when i installed it, it copied files, started to flash, restarted, and then took like 5 minutes to start up completely.
i read somewhere that the initial boot of 5342 was alot slower than the rest.
try it again and see what happens

I was able to fix the problem, hope this helps others.
My video card in this system was an 8x AGP Mad Dog Radeon 9550. I had flashed this to a 9600 Pro BIOS. As a last ditch effort I relashed back to the original BIOS. Sure enough, didn't even have to try a re-install. As soon as booting began on Vista, there were a few flashes lasting under 15 seconds total and the intsallation completed.
