hi,

though reading several posts i have actual unsolvable problems putting my osx86 computer in a wifi-homenetwork.

the dongle works now, but after enabling windows-sharing in network config no computers show up. i am able to share music via itunes but nothing else shows up.

same thing under windows. after installing homenetwork, renaming the network an all 3 computers the same, putting ordered ip-adresses on the pcs (router: 1, pc 1: 2, pc 2 (mac): 3, pc 3: 4) all thats working is itunes - even in xp. all computers have different shared xp-folders, folders of pc2 and pc3 show up on pc 1,2,3 but folders of pc 1 dont show up in pc 2 and 3.

i even tried some new prog - i cant remember the name - that lets you configure some CIFS stuff. i even have a CIFS Device on the mac now, but its totaly empty.

mac doesnt show up anything at all. i tried installing ms-remote on the 86mac, enabled remote-desktop on pc3, tried connecting by entering the ip of pc3, nothing happens.

there must be some form of connection if itunes show up music on all 3 pcs. so the apple-connection seem to be the best - but how do i get the mac to show up the other pcs?

any hints?

all comps must be in same workgroup... on mac you set workgroup in applications/utilities/Directory Access.app
and they better be in the same level ip...
slowdiver
thank you!

but:
workgroup is the same
workgroup is set in directory access.app
what do you mean by same level ip? pc are xxx.xxx.xxx.1 to 4.
is that right?
CoolBits
that should be it yes... if its still not workin check your firewalls and router or swich depends what you have...
slowdiver
thank you again.

strange... router is xxx.xxx.xxx.1, mac is 3.
after shutting down all firewalls on the ip#2 computer nothing shows up.
i dont have to shut down the firewall of the router?!? That would be really strange?
i cant understand this problem.

maybe it has something to do with a former lan network between pc1 and 3. happend then the same way. pc1 has access to 3 but 3 not to 1. maybe it has something to do with some crap lying around on pc1 that tells all others that pc1 is 'server' all other are 'clients'? but where could i find it? i reinstalled a home network on all pcs?!?
cant understand this problem.
