Why is the 2G iPod touch less important that the iPhone 3G? Why not let them wait for a bit. Its the same situation as AMD and Intel Processors when it comes to OSx86. Its stupid the way its prioritized. There are a good few devs who could try their hand i'm sure.
It's not stupid.
They are not called the Dev Team, they are the
iPhone DevTeam. The focus for them was mainly the iPhone the entire time, it just so happened that the iPod touch, iPhone and iPhone 3G shared the same hardware, so their method could easily be brought to the touch.
The 2nd Gen iPod touch is not on their list because it's not an iPhone and software unlocking the baseband on the iPhone 3G was top priority. Also, the iPod touch doesn't share the same hardware as the other devices, so they really have no obligation to go out of their way to jailbreak it, on top of it only being a hobby for the iPhone Dev Team, so they can do whatever they want really.
If you disagree, learn some assembly and how bootrom, LLB and iBoot work on the iPod touch 2G and get to work.
