Hey all,

Here's my issue. I installed OSX, and when I rebooted, it was as if nothing happened ( I installed from the DVD). It just loaded the XP boot loader and that was it, back into XP. Then I noticed if I left the install dvd in the drive..and started the machine, leaving it alone, without pressing a key to begin the install, the OS would boot up perfectly! When i use the chain0 method, and edit my boot.ini, and select OSX...it says "Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem". I'm sure my paths are correct, I just don't get it.

Is there something I'm missing? Or an easier way to do this? Cuz I really dont want to have to leave the cd in my drive, and wait 8 seconds everytime I want to boot into OSX, my PC is running it flawlessly, and I'd actually like the chance to get to use it.

what does your boot.ini look like? did you make the osx partition active?

if you are dual booting with XP and OSx86 on the different partitions on the same HD, then you should edit OSx86 boot loader to allow you to select XP. Chain0 will only work if you have the OSes on separate HDs.

Wow, thank you for ruling out the chain0 file, lol else I would have been wasting A LOT! of time. The only problem with using the OSx86 boot loader is that it doesn't come up. I've got the OSX partition set to the active partition, but the boot loader doesn't start. I've got to leave the osx86 cd inside, let the seconds count down without pressing a key, and then OSX boots.

How can I install the osx86 boot loader?? And possibly get it to boot XP.

SCSI drive with windows, SATA with OSX. Booting from SCSI, boot.ini has c:\chain0 as a boot option for OS X. Works like a charm.

Hmmm, that sounds like an option. But I read somewhere on a post, if I get the 10.4.3 install, to boot, and use the disk startup utitlity, and pointed it to my current 10.4.4 installation, the boot loader would be installed and fixed. So I'm in the process of getting the 10.4.3 install. I need it regardless, since I've got to get a kext networking file from 10.4.3 in order for my ethernet card to work. Once that's done, I'll be a happy apple (no pun intended).
