Running Hackintosh (Kalyway 10.5.2).

Firewire (almost new) cable connected to a Sony DCR-PC350E Camera. IEEE 1394a (Firewire 400)
Turning the camera on to Edit Mode OS-X sees the Firewire Connection and Identifies the Camera correctly.

In the Sytem Information the camera still shows up under the firewire details correctly.

Running iMovie or Final Cut Express I get "No Camera Connected" warning.

Tried turning on camera first then iMovie and visa versa, still nothing.
Camera & Cable work fine in WinXP with MovieMaker and Adobe Premiere.

Anyone have any ideas?

Configuration:

Arctic Freezer Pro 7

Corsair DDR3-1333 2GB

The camera itself sits on a Dock. The firewire and USB cable go from Dock to Computer.

The USB part works fine, iPhoto can see the camera fine and grab images from the Memory Card.

Just a matter of WHY the Firewire Part does not work is a mystery.

Problem solved.

Computer completely off.
Turn on camera to VCR or Edit Mode
Then Start Computer booting into OS-X
Then once booted up run iMovie or Video Editing program and it sees the camera.

Turning on the camera after OS-X is booted up just was not working. I have no idea why not as Windows the camera can be turned on or plugged unplugged any time and it works fine.

I just hope this helps someone else at some stage.
