I've seen some posts of people reporting they cant use their PATA disks even with the patched versions of OSX x86, it seems if you have SMART turned on in the bios even though its not really doing anything to the disk the OSX install will fail to see any disks till the feature it turned off.
I upgraded my bios on an Asus P5ND2 motherboard and it defaulted the feature on and i was unable to boot or run the OSX install disk and find a hard drive till the feature was off.
Thought it might be of some help to people with nforce 4 chips
