Full Version: Decent Audio Card?

Hi guys, I'd like to know if there is any decent and not to expensive audio card that fully works in OS X.

I've an old Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 that sounds great in winxp (KX drivers) and probably even better Linux (alsa). Now in OS X I'm stuck with onboard Realtek ALC883 which actually sucks in comparisson with the SB Live!

Is there any card working native? Could be Sound Blaster (not USB), Turtle Beach, etc

Depends on what you consider expensive but the short answer is, no. Slightly longer answer:

...come to think of it, I don't really know if you are going to produce (since you use kX) music or just listen to it. If it's the latter your easiest and cheapest solution is of course to get your on bord chip to 'sound good'. It shouldn't have to be that big a difference (if any) to that old SB card. Could be some setting somewhere...
