I just picked up a used 2007 3GHz 8 core machine. Beautiful machine... love it! One issue I have if that transfers to external USB hard drives is noticeably slower than on my hackpro. This isn't a big issue because I mainly use Firewire drives on both machines and the speed is the same. I know Apple had issues with slower than usual USB transfers in the past (My Intel Mini suffers from this), but you don't mean they still haven't fixed this... on a $3000 freakin' machine no less?
