Full Version: Printing from Mac in a Windows Domain

Guys - Please accept my apologies if this is the wrong forum for this thread, but my problem seems to be a cross-platform issue.

I am trying to print from Leopard to a Ricoh Aficio 3235 in a small office environment. The problem is that Ricoh has no OSX driver that supports 'user code authentication', which I need to keep active for billing purposes.

So my question is: Can I set up some sort of virtual print server on either my Windows 2003 server or just a networtworked computer and have OSX send the print job to that printer?

I have successfully installed Parallels, and I can save files from OSX to the virtual windows and print from there, but it is a pain in the (ummm) neck. I would love to be able to print directly from OSX to this giant color printer.

I may not even be asking the question correctly, but hopefully someone will understand what I am talking about.

My network uses a domain, and the printer is connected to that domain, if that helps. I have been successful at connecting OSX to network drives - - just not to this printer.

Thanks!

I don't have Domain here but there are two options to network printing from Fusion/Parallels.

One is sharing you already Installed printer of Mac OS and install it on the virtual machine.

The other method that I discovered was almost the same but because the printer in my network uses Bonjour it work directly on the virtual machine, I just intalled bonjour services from Apple.

I follow the guide liste here, VMware Fusion 1.0: Printers: http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?...3193&ui=www

Bonjour from here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bon...forwindows.html
