I have been running OSx86 on my quad core for about 2 months now. All I can say is its absolutely amazing. I am the kinda guys who has to reinstall his PC every month or so cause I go absolutely insane when my computer doesn't run optimally. Like most of you here I spend a heck of a lot of time in front my PC, as I do Web-design and so on, and I am thus permanently connected to the net. I seem to attract viruses, like my dog attracts flees in the summer. Ive tried working on linux and I have become quite adept at it, but I dont care what people say, working on linux simply isn't as nice as windows, except for the fact that its faster, more stable, and secure. But there's no photoshop, dreamweaver, reason, cubase, heck there no nothing for linux that even remotely compares to the amazing software available for windows. I have heared allot about OSx and have been dying to try it. Got myself a copy of OSx tiger but I didn't have te time to figure out how to install it on my PC. And forking out a good R20,000 which is more than what most people here in South-Africa earn per year was simply not an option. Especially not knowing just what I would be getting myself into. with some fiddling I managed to get IpcOSx installed and I have to be honest I have the entire OS under my knee now, and will never go back to windows again. I have the security I enjoyed in linux but with all the great SW of windows. I read a earlier post done in Feb about the legalities of IpcOSx, and I have come to the conclusion that Apple should pay the members of this community a hell of allot of money, as this is simply the best marketing they could ever have hoped for. I am now on the verge of buying my first mac, which I would never even have considered if it wasn't for you guys. It all just seemed like a luxury, but having worked on my hackentosch I simply can not see how anyone could ever work on anything other than a mac, coming from a creative point of view and a practical point of view. With Windows I had to figure out how to make all kinds of things work, and people say yea but you know it gives you the freedom to decide how things must be, but to be quite honest apple puts allot of thought into planning the most practical way for things to work, and now I can finally just focus on my work. So thank you guys .... your awesome.

P.S. I thought this might be an interesting experiment, but I never expected it to run as well as it does.
The ipcOSx ppf5 distro runs 100% stable on my Nvidia board with with Nvidia Graphics card and quad core CPU I just wish I could find drivers for my old Creative SB0220 soundcard smile.gif but the onboard one works fine.

Glad you were able to join the OSx86 Community, Arjunme.

After reading your post, I can relate to many things. I use Windows at Work, and I used to use at Home with IE (Yuck!) I used to be magnet from viruses as well. Since migrating to OSx86 and using Firefox or Safari, I haven't had a single virus since! I started with Tiger (Myzar then mac.nub) and now Leopard (MSIWindOSx86) and soon Snow Leopard (Retail). The computer I bought in 2006 (MSI mPC 915) is still running 24/7. I bought all my machines based on specs and recommendations from OSx86 Hardware Wiki and Forums. The website and community has been an invaluable resource to me and many others. Keep up the good work!
