Here is what I have so far.

Dell 1720
- Dual boot (Win Vista Ultimate 64bit / Kalyway Mac OS X 10.5.1)
- 1.8 Core 2 Duo (working)
- 2 GB Ram (Reading)
- Nvidia 8600M GT 256mb (working w/ NVInstallerV.41.pkg)
- Bluetooth (working)
- STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio (not working)
- Intel Wireless 4965AGN (not working)

I've given up on the Intel Wireless. But im sure i can get the Audio to work with some help. I have tried all of Taruga's fixes and combination of fixes and none have worked. so far the only progress has been using the default install. It give me an output but no sound. What can i provide you to get the ball rolling?

- Get the AppleHDA Patcher v1.20 from here - http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=32859
- Get the Stac9205.txt Linux Codec dump from here - Attached Below.
- Get the AppleHDA.kext.zip file from here - http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry586908

Put these files on your desktop. Once this is done, you want to drag the Stac9205.txt file into AppleHDA Patcher v1.20. You will see some text in the box, and then it will say Done or Complete or something along those lines. Now, before you reboot, take the AppleHDA.kext file you downloaded fromt he last link, and put it in System/Library/Extensions. It will ask you to authenticate with your user password, and overwrite the file, this is fine, do so.

Then go to Applications/Utilities/Disc Utility, select your Leopard install drive, and repair permissions, then reboot. Again I recommend using the -v flag to check for errors, but you shouldn't encounter any.

Once OS X boots again you should not have fully working audio, at least to the extent I have tested it

Thank you - tried this but still no good.

This is doing my head nearly as much as vista is.

Does anyone out there have a Dell 1720 with Audigy 2 (Sigmatel HD ) that has working sound (and preferably wireless also)?

I've heard on one of the other forums (can't find it again!) that the 9200 codec dump works on the Insiron 1720. I installed the 9205, and now Leopard recognizes the hardware, but still no sound.

When I find the right codec, I'll edit this post. Let me know if you find anything!

Thanks, please let us know how you went.
