Hi everybody!

I have VAIO VGN-G11XRN

sound card: realtek HDAUDIO
\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0262&SUBSYS_104D1800&REV_1001

I installed the kext by kexthelper and detect intenal speakers, bult-in mic, headphones(selected device has no output controls). I can't hear sounds via intenal speakers but can via headphones. What do I need to do solve the problem? Please HELP!

Yes, I am having the same problem: the headphone and internal speaker are producing sound together.

I'm having the same problem on my Sony Vaio. The Heaphones show as having no output controls and they produce no sound. If I choose internal speakers, I get sound from both.

Is there a fix for this yet?

On a positive note, my mic jack seems to be working biggrin.gif

Well no matter what this breaks my shutdown even with the HDAEnabler and the shutdown fix. Time to switch back to AppleAzaliaAudio sad.gif

Well I installed ALC262_F00.txt, but now the sound in my menu bar has disappeared and when I try to change my volume, the volume box pops up but nothing happens.

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/2580/picture1qa1.png

You can see the space where volume should be in my menu bar and the volume box that pops up when I try to change my volume.

Here are the drivers for anyone with a Sony VAIO ux280p. It may work with other UX micro pcs, but I am unable to test it.

I used the ALC262_400 dump and I can confirm that I get sound from both the headphones and the internal speakers correctly (plugging in headphones mutes the internal speaker, just as it should), and I can change the volume. The only problem is that AppleHDA randomly kernel panics on shutdown. unsure.gif

Mine is ALC262_590...Who can tell me how to edit my AppleHDA.kext? I used this dump code and AppleHDAPatch 1.2 to generate my AppleHDA.kext, but I found that my AppleHDA.kext has only two sections: speaker and HP. I downloaded a ALC262_580's kext, and compared the two kexts, only to find mine is much shorter.

now I've set speaker to 2-12-20 and HP to 3-13-21, in my short AppleHDA.kext. If I plug my hp in, and choose speaker in sound preferences, speaker and hp will produce sound together; if i choose headphone, then headphone works perfectly...

Argh. Literally getting nowhere.

Took a codec dump using Knoppix Live CD even that doesn't work?!?! Says it installs OK and asks me to reboot but after that there's still no audio hardware detected. >_<

Although Taruga's app says it's repaired the permissions, make sure you open Disk Utility and repair disk permissions from there.

Also, for this to work (at least on my Lenovo), the laptop had to be put to sleep. Sleep doesn't work, though, and therein lies the trick. For some reason when I put it to sleep, it wakes immediately thereafter and the audio works. However, you need to be running the vanilla kernel in order for this to work. The modified kernel from Team Hackint0sh won't work in that regard.

Review and follow the instructions in the URL's above, do some research on how you can run OS X the vanilla kernel and I'm confident you'll make it happen. I bought a retail copy and patched it with BrazilMac's method. However, I would also try the BOOT-132 method. Other links to guides are listed in my signature.

i get no devices found when i look at my sound options.. i cant figure out what my intel card is (realtek or sigmatel). I have tried a few different ktexts with HDA patcher 1.20 with no luck...

where can i get the info for the audio card's Subsystem ID? Is there any other way to be sure my codec for my card? My mobo is a intel d945gtp.

thanks in advance for your help. other than sound my pc is 100% operational. Should i continue to fight this issue or buy a pci sound card.. if this is an easier fix i will just do this tomorrow.

thanks again,

1. Re: Kernel Panic when you shut down after installing Taruga's HDA Patcher: that's normal. As in, "normal-for-a-computer-running-Mac OS X-on-non-Apple-hardware" normal. You've heard others don't experience a KP? Then try the Azalia Audio kext or whatever. Otherwise, expect a KP on shutdown. For all practical purposes, that's no big deal.

In order to shutdown your computer, you'll have to

a. Hold the power button down for 7 seconds or more.

b. Do a restart, and if you've implemented multi-boot, hit the power button before booting to an OS.

2. Re: device showing up, but can't hear sound: open "System Preferences", go to "Sound", and make sure the output device you want (e.g. "Internal Speakers") is selected. If you're using a laptop, try using the volume control quick keys and a little "chirp" sound will occur. If you're using a desktop PC, adjust the volume control "menulet" in the upper-right hand corner with your mouse, and the "chirp" will happen that way too.

If that doesn't work, I'd recommend reading all previous posts in this thread. Or go to the Apple HDA thread where Taruga used to post (Taruga, where are you?).

My subsystem ID is 1025:011c (Acer).

The chip is not listed, and I cannot get a working sound with any file I download. How do I specify my subsystem ID?

stupid question, how do you tell which realtek card/chipset you have in your machine, everywhere I look in windows it only says realtek , I have my on board speakers working, but I need the audio out to work ( my on boards are fairly quiet.

thanks.

In devicemanager of WindowsXP, DeviceID and VenderID are recorded in Detail Properties of RealTek Audio Device.
10ED is VenderID and 0262 is DeviceID. By the way, I think that 262 of DeviceID shows ALC262.
By the way, this was "10ED:0262. " in reality though had written, Audio Chip ID is "10ED:0206" with Post of # 171 It is my typing mistake.

would the deivce ID be the same in windows vista (hardware ID), I don't see device ID listed anywhere >.< (is not a windows person)
Puntoboy
I'm confused as to which txt file I need for my card. I currently have my Vista HDD in my laptop and I've checked device manager. The string in device manager is:

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1981&SUBSYS_103C30D8&REV_1002
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1981&SUBSYS_103C30D8

So I need the last 3 digits, so is that the 103?

Thanks in advance.

hi folks,

tried the F00, because i have a 6.00 (like sandra pro says)
but no sound out (2 options now shown in the sound settings) nor sound in (nothing in the settings)
my system is a HP xw8600 (BTO without any mods -> mint)
any suggestions to bring the internal speaker, sound out (front &&|| back) and mic uo 'n running?

TIA

ever since updating my system to 10.5.6 my audio is non-existent. i have re-tried the steps listed throughout this document, but so far, nothing is working [even azaila audio patch doesnt do anything] Is there any recommended preferences or caches that need deleting when I am re-trying different solutions, that may be holding me back, I sorted all this out a year ago when I first got the computer, and I think I ended up just manually editing the appleHDA kext manually, and would do this again, but I don't see any results from attempt to attempt, and I think its due to a cache or pref not being cleared, Any info is appreciated.

Same for me, have problems for headphone and mic after upgraded to 10.5.6 .

Please help..

kteljenkins
Heres some more info, if anyone has any ideas why my audio is non-existent on 10.5.6. I re-installed both the 262_F00.zip, and the 262_508 one, since my device ID subsystem string is:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0262&SUBSYS_11790504&REV_1001\4&6CD3CC1&0&0001

This audio worked adequately with the azaliaaudiopatch, and it worked completely when I used the F00 version [before 10.5.6] and now no amount of re-installing and such is getting it to do anything now. I rebooted the windows drive, the internal audio is still working, and when I use a 3rd party hardware device, it works fine, its just for the internal hardware. The only other hardware change I have made is to install a replacement "TrueMobile 1505 Draft N Wireless WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n Mini-PCI Express Card - MX846" which works great, and I updated the windows drivers and it works there too [and the audio is working there too]

Any suggestions to what I have done, or what extension got updated with 10.5.6 that is causing this hosing, would be appreciated,
Kenny

I have a 262 sub 504 on a Toshiba R20 w/ iDeneb 1.4 (10.5.6). I don't get any sound, nothing is detected. I've been through the HDAPatcher stuff a couple times, followed some instructions on installing Azalia from an older version of OSX, that didn't work. I've been back to HDA patcher trying fixed (the zip drivers) and the dumps. I have sound in Ubuntu and my card dump looks good. Anyone have experience getting the sub 504 to work with nothing showing up for sound.

I thought it might be a conflict, but I've killed Azalia and vice-versa. I searched for the Intel PCI id in all the plists's.

Can't think what more it could be. I doubt the 504 subtype could be THAT different.

Thanks.

Uh, my toshiba R20 has the same problem, see above, and I ran through all the things you have as well. Great computer across the board otherwise, Maybe the upcoming 10.5.7 will fix it…

Hi,
I´ve decided to buy a DELL 1505 or MX846 and I´ve found this that seems to be a bargain (sending costs are really low for me):

http://cgi.ebay.es/WIRELESS-802-11n-b-g-DE...%3A1|240%3A1318

My question is that I´m not sure if this is going to work on Vista 64 o Windows 7. Have you tried it before?

Has anyone been able to get ALC262 working with 10.5.6 ??

If so what do you use HDAEnabler / ALCInject ??

I have tried with either as well as both but no go

HI!

THANKS!

Hi AleSoft,

I have patched AppleHDA.kext for your ALC260 according to your codec dump file. Please try & report back if it is working or not.

You can install it by using kexthelper or using my install script (InstallAppleHDA_ALC260) in the ALC260 folder. If you decided want to use my install script, make sure you unpack the zip file at your Desktop or it will not working. If you don't believe my install script please use kexthelper to install it instead.

The content of the install script (InstallAppleHDA_ALC260):-
CODE
#!/bin/bash
       sudo mkdir /BackupExtensions
       sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext /BackupExtensions/
       sudo cp -R ~/Desktop/ALC260/AppleHDA.kext /System/Library/Extensions/
       sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext
       sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext
       sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/ALCinject.kext /BackupExtensions/
       sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/HDAEnabler.kext /BackupExtensions/
       sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext /BackupExtensions/
       sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
       echo "Please Reboot"

If you use kexthelper to install it, please make sure this kexts are not in your /System/Library/Extensions/ folder or it will not working:-
1) ALCinject.kext
2) HDAEnabler.kext
3) AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

Good luck. smile.gif

Hi everyone,
I too like others here have also lost all the sound capabilities since upgrading from 10.5.2 to 10.5.6, and so far all the things I've tried to do to get the sound back have not worked, so if someone could help me either by telling me what else I can do (I'm more than happy to learn how to do it myself...), or by generating a kext for my settings, then that would be appreciated :-) Here's a brief history of what I've tried so far...
I have a Sony VGN-FS115S laptop which has a Realtek ALC260 installed. Under 10.5.2 and using a combination of a codec dump I found that worked with Taruga's v1.20 patcher and without having to repair Disk Permissions after installing it (I didn't know about the Knoppix codec dump "trick" then...), the Internal Speakers & Headphones worked, but only the Internal Speakers were visible as "Line Out - Built-in Line Output" on the "Sound" preference section in "System Preferences". As I said the Headphones worked but were never visible on the "Sound" preference section. They also worked independently of each other, and not at the same time as some people have reported here in this topic. Unfortunately the Microphone socket never worked under 10.5.2.
When I did a fresh install of IPC 10.5.6, I first tried using my old audio setup for the ALC260 that i used under 10.5.2... it installed OK (and I also tried repairing Disk Permissions after the install & before the reboot which I hadn't had to do before on 10.5.2), but unfortunately that just crashed the machine every-time on boot, and it was unrecoverable, so that was a no-no.
Next I downloaded all the various ALC combinations under this topic as well as all the codec_dump's that people have made available here (thank u all...), run Disk Permissions after every install & before every restart, but still nothing works.
I then tried the Knoppix codec dump "trick" which was described here to see if that worked, and again that surprisingly didn't work either. Now correct me if I'm wrong in saying this, but the Knoppix codec dump should actually show me my "true" hardware settings of my ALC260 card as they really are, shouldn't it ?
Now here comes the freaky bit... I thought I'd compare the codec dump that I had found & used under 10.5.2 with the one that I had just generated with the Knoppix codec dump I'd done, as well as comparing both of these with a Device Manager report from Windows XP that I had done before I had installed 10.5.2. Well guess what... the "Address", "Subsystem ID" & the "Revision ID" of the 2 codec dump's don't even match, and yet under 10.5.2 it worked !! AND, the 10.5.2 working codec dump & the XP Device Manager settings don't match either (the XP Device Manager & the Knoppix codec dump do...) !! WTF !!!?? How the hell did that happen ?? Should my sound have even worked under 10.5.2 if those settings are completely different to what I'm actually have ??
As you can see I'm now banging my head against the wall, so if anyone can help me resolve this by either showing me or providing me with the relevant files or work that needs to be done, that really would be helpful :-) I've also attached to this message all the files I've described here I used for installation/reference, as well as a sample of the 10.5.2 IORegistry state file that shows the audio settings as they are when I use 10.5.2.
I hope someone can help...

Thanks

Ed

P.S.: Sorry, but I've got to quote this... "Help me Obi-wan Kenobi... You're my only hope" :-)
HampusTagerud
WORKS GREAT ON MY VAIO FW11M! Thanks alot! You are the best!

Of course not. You have different pin configuration than AleSoft's. I was hoping if AleSoft got the chance to test the file & report back to me if it is working or not. I'm going to patch the AppleHDA.kext according to your codec dump. My target is at least you will able to get sound out working. I don't know if I able to get your mic & line in working though because it seems that ALC260 don't have audio mixer connected with input devices. Your kext will be available soon.

@kizwan - Doh !! tongue.gif I thought it was a "general" kext that might work for most... obviously not !! Well thanks for attempting to make a text for me... much appreciated !! Is there any chance you could explain what you do to make a hopefully working kext, either on here or as a PM so I can learn what to look out for & how to do it myself, in case I have to do this again in the future ?

Thanks very much smile.gif

Hi egnm1969,

You can read THe KiNG's How To to know how I patch original AppleHDA.kext using information from the codec dump.

Thanks Kizwan... I look forward to comparing the kext that you will hopefully generate for me with The Kings guide & my codec dump to see exactly what it's all about... All I can say is I'm gonna need a *hitload of black coffee to keep my brain awake after having a quick glimpse at the The King's guide :-)
