Greetings,

I have a Gateway m320 laptop that I'm running upchuck 10.4.9 rv.3 on. All the audio kext load properly and everything works visually, (slider, preferences) even mic in works. What doesn't work is the laptop speakers and headphone out. By using a live linux cd, I was able to reproduce the same problem exactly, all drivers load but no actual sound. The key difference was that by initializing (turning on and back off) the external amplifier in the switches setting in kmix, the speakers and headphone began to work perfectly. Is there any way to do this while running my hackintosh? I am sure it is the key to getting the sound working properly.

Thanks, Mike

I had a Realtek High Denfition Audio Controller that had the same issue. I had to download some driver off this site somewhere i forget where though. Also in linux (Ubuntu and Kubuntu) i managed to get the sound working by turning on all the speakers (Surround, 3D, etc) and maxing their volume out. IDK why its muted to start with though.
