Hi, can anyone please help me i'm a newbie and don't know what i'm doing wrong
i have realtek HD Audio 8 Channels with spdif
Details: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0883
and i guess it's on ICH7
I've tried to install ALC883Audio.pkg with any possible option, but still don't have sound although i see available inputs and outputs in preferences
Does anyone know could be the problem?
and also what option exactly i have to choose if i have a laptop with built in speakers, mic-in, line-in and headphones-out?
Thanx in advance

It works for me too!! 5.1 channel for my hackintosh!! thumbsup_anim.gif

Thanks, Skippy, I guess I owe you a big one smile.gif

One very small caveat: Apple keyboard's volume control doesn't work anymore.
Is this normal?

How do you get it to work?

Which option did you choose (I guess it is 3 ports).

Does it have to have all jacks connected?

I tried 3 ports option and got nothing - no input, no output...Also tried 6 ports, no go there either..

First, I chose 6 ports + digital output option and got nothing.
So I chose 6 ports option without the digital output and made sure
every channel working alright and then, just followed Skippy's instructions smile.gif

Some laptops will not work properly "yet". I am still working on the problem. Have you tried the headphone port for sound?

yep, still, no sound
I've noticed a strange thing, built-in speakers appear as input and not output

Nope, still no go. I tried 3 ports, then 6ports, then 6 ports + digital....nothing. I mean From "System Profiles" I can see that HDA and HDAController are loaded. but no input or output....

Anyway, I tried to fix natit and now my system not loaded up anymore, seems that ATIRadeonxxx.kext gone from the system but then this is another subject/topic....

Reporting success with 2 channel stereo out, no inputs using azalia installer. ICH7 + 888.

Failure with AppleHDA - shows all devices and voume controls, but no sound from any jack (6 channels, no spdif).

Skippy,

I am sorry but I do not know the procedure for either 'attaching' the kext or 'posting' it. Can you please advise me as to how to do it? Thanks,
Steve

Your board uses ALC882, my packages are for ALC883 and ALC888. You need Taruga's kext.

Yeah, I know that. BUT Ezhoon has got his to work on his Asus P5-LD2. Or I am wrong about that ...

Skippy,

for some reason, I am unable to upload to the forum. I have tried two days now and I cannot get the upload of the kext to complete. (appleHDA.kext for ALC880 line in out but WITHOUT SPDIF). I could probably send it to you via email.. any suggestions?
Thanks

Here is the AppleHDA.kext that I got to work with my ALC880 system providing line in and out (analog) but NOT digital SPDIF in or out. It works with both 10.4.6 and 10.4.8 (8.8.1 kernel). If you are able to figure out how to get SPDIF, I would be interested in how you did it. Thanks
eyemac

(sorry but for some reason i am unable to upload the file to the forum....suggestions would be appreciated.... i have tried from three different computers and two different internet servers, but to no avail. )
eyemac
Here is another attempt to upload my AppleHDA.kext in zip form. It is the one that i use for analog line in and out but i does not provide SPDIF.

I have looked at the kext from both jsl and eyemac and they are the same version. Unfortunetly the node's appear to be hardcoded so I can not change them to what ALC880 requires. Sorry...
eyemac
Skippy, thanks for checking.
Perhaps I will use a MB with ALC882 or ALC883/888 for a project that needs SPDIF..The MSI 945G platinum board has ALC882 and I recall that I could get digital in and out working with Taruga's ALC882 kext.

Hi there. Just reporting a 2 channel success for my Asus card, installing the Alc883 pkg. I'm using 10.4.8 + semthex kernel.

I have 3 ports in the mobo, 2 more in front with the HDAudio cable and an optional Spdif Out using a slot (I don't have that accesory)....

First I installed the 3 ports / no digital option, but the Audio MIDI Setup only shows me Stereo. Then installed 3 ports + digital, 6 ports without and with digital. Audio MIDI then gimme lots of options, Quadraphonic and 5.1 and 7.1 and so, but I have only Stereo sound. unsure.gif

Anyway, thanx Skippy!! thumbsup_anim.gif

Hello ALC888 experts. Myself and a couple of other ASrock Conroe945-DVI users (ICH7) have been trying to get even a glimmer out of this. We feel close and that possibly are doing something wrong somewhere in the whole process. If anyone has had any success whatsoever down this path, I and several others would be more than ecstatic.

I'm using the ALC883Audio.pkg on an Acer Aspire 5630. Everithing ok with sound (both from built in speakers and headphone) but i can't see any card Audio (Built In). Midi seems to not work. I've not checked line in and mic.

I am having trouble wrapping my head around this thread.
In the end I can't get these drivers to work, hopefully someone can shed some light on my plight.

Here is what I have:
ALC883 audio package onboard my Asus P5ND2-SLI mainboard.
I have 6 channel analog out and a coaxial SPDIF out (no SPDIF in)

I installed JaS 10.4.8
Originally I modified the AppleAC97Audio.kext which got me 2 channel analog out. My goal is SPDIF surround out, I couldn't care less about inputs.

So I tried installing the ALC883Audio.pkg. In custom options I select ALCInject and I tried 6 channel + digital. I delete the cache, reboot and get the same AC97 output as before, if I temporarily remove the AC97 kext I get no output. I'm going to try to revert the AC97 kext to the original version tonight. Will this help? Should the system even use this with the new drivers?
I don't know how to remove the previously installed drivers from ALC883 so I just tried the other options. I had the same results though. I guess it installed them concurrently with the old ones? Should I uninstall the others and just try 1? How?

I noticed Skippy mentioned problems with systems with no SPDIF In. Does this mean I am out of luck? Should that matter? I noticed there are a lot of references to SPDIF In in the drivers plists, but I have no idea what is going on in there.

Can I test the drivers without rebooting? Should kextload AppleHDA work or do i need to do something with ALCInject?

Thanks for any help you can give me. And thanks Skippy for all the Driver Work.

Hi, I have Higabyte DS3 mobo with ALC883 chip, but I can`t get the 6-channel sound working.

Stereo works fine, 6 channel works during calibration, but the Apply button won`t actually do anything. Itunes still works in stereo, and when I go back to audio setup I see Stereo in settings, not Multichannel. Any Idea what it could be?

Thank a lot man.

Now everything more or less works. For sure there are certainly limitations but I never used Mac before so it's difficult for me to compare.

ALC883.kext output works on Asus P5L-VM 1394. Unsure whether input is working - the bar moves in system prefs with a mic connected but there is no loopback.

edit: tested with 'AudioRecorder' - input is working 100%

Amazing work.

Can I use AzaliaAudio.pkg on 10.4.6 (Jas)? I'm so weary of Kernel Panics now.

I've already tried removign AppleHDA and adding my RealTek ALC862 Audio (VEN: 10EC, DEV: 0862, Audio) to the AppleAzalia.kext and regenerating the kextcache, but still no sound. I have a Toshiba M115-S3094 laptop.

Thanks guys!

OMG, THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!! I have searched these forums front to back and I couldnt get my Conexant audio to work. That is until now. Skippy, you are a freakin genious. Thanks for all the work you and anyone on your team (if you have one). You guys rock!!!!!

By the way, Here is what I am running as of now.

HP dv8339us
audio - Conexant HD - NOW RUNNING laugh.gif
usb - running
ethernet - running
power management - running
PCI CardBus - Texas Instraments - still not working dry.gif
display - nvidia GeForce Go 7600 - seems fine, dont get dual screen though, o well
thanx to all involved who makes these fixes!!!
skippyretard
I made the appleazaliaaudio.pkg with the 10.4.8 kext, so it might not work with older version's. But, it shouldn't cause a kernel panic, it just won't work.

I have stopped working on these kext because Taruga has released his patcher. His patcher is more advanced than these kext and is improving almost daily. Great work Taruga!

Hi Skippy,
How are you doing? Forgive me for being daft , but I’m stuck with my audio thing. I’m using an Intel 946GZIS mobo that has got HD. Now it *does not* have any digi o/p. I’m not certain about the exact ALC88* number. I have downloaded all the three packages and only the regular one gives me a vol control icon on the "top bar". I see the iTunes play tracks but there is *no output* from the speakers. Taruga’s patcher is making the OS crash and I’m getting a "Push restart button" screen as soon as I apply the patch. Please let me know if you’d need any further details but please help me.

Is there any solutions for this setup that i could try. I can't update to 10.4.8 either cos then my LAN won't work, and i did try everything with that sad.gif

If you have to work, you shouldn't get a hackintosh smile.gif

Anyway, you can overcome the problem with any USB/FW sound interface. For example usb Altec Lansing speakers sound really nice.
