Hey guys, I have the realtek alc286 and sound works and everything, but the mic isn't working. The mic is detected but is not functioning properly... the volume bar for the mic only moves when you adjust the volume, and doesn't go all the way up nor all the way down... I have Voodoo HDA, and no matter what settings i adjust, the mic just won't respond to my voice or taps.... I'm trying to explain the best I can what's going on, but its very difficult to explain.... To sum it up in 1 sentence, my mic doesn't respond to activity...… ANY and ALL help is greatly appreciated. Please don't leave me sitting here like some guys that i've seen since waiting since Feb 2008!!!!

I have acer-aspire 4720.

I got it working!!!!! the problem is voodoo audio.... i erased everything, re-did the installer, and installed azalia audio w/out voodoo audio (voodoo ps2 is still installed incase anyone wants to know)... and i used an installer to install alc268 driver... let me know if you need the link!!!

Heres the kexts for it... I don't know how to install this though.... My best suggestion would to be download iAtkos v7 (10.5.7), and the wi-fi will work... once you update to 10.5.8 through software update, it fixes alot of bugs....

i have tried installing iAtkos v7 on my Acer Aspire 4720z. For me, my keyboard, mouse and wifi is not working. Keyboard and mouse were working till i started the installation. once the darwin kernel loads it is expecting keyboard and mouse. so i am connecting usb keyboard and mouse to work.

how do i sort this out?

Hi, I'm thinking about getting this laptop in the next few days..got a few questions..

I saw on the OSX86 wiki that wifi and ethernet don't work...is this true?
Can you please tell me what options you picked when you installed...what format did you use...etc.

i cant tell you EXACTLY what i used but the ethernet DOES work, and so does the wifi... just select the whole networking or watever checkbox...
