This may have already been answered and discussed somwhere else, but the search here stinks, and I even tried google with not very good results.

I have built many OSX86 boxes over the last few years, starting with Uphuck, JaS, Kalyway and now XxX.

I've used a variety of sound hardware in these machines.

*none* of them have been able to get audio input working.

Is there some wierd voodoo going on here that prevents audio input from working on all but USB devices and chipsets that appear in real Macs?

What are the options? I put a USB sound on my wife's Hacintosh, but I've recently converted my work Laptop to OSX86, and well, USB sound on a laptop just seems clunky..

The chipset in that machine is the AD1984. Has anyone had any success with that family of chipsets?
