Looking for help if anyone knows the solution to my Firewire Audio problem. Problem is crackles, pops and then garbage when playing back from Logic 7. Reading the posts I have tried, without success:

AppleFWAudio.kext
TI (PCI) vs NEC (PICe) firewire cards

I went back to basics and installed 10.5.4 using boot132. I am using a Metric Halo MobileIO-2882. Straight after loading OSX I loaded the Metric Halo drivers and played Logic - beautiful and clean. Then I enabled the Asus EN8500GT video card (tried both EFI and NVInject) and audio goes crazy again.

There is evidently some conflict when the video card is recognized as an 8500GT and QE/CI are enabled, but removing NVInject everything sonic is good again.

Anyone got any ideas?

Motherboard: Foxconn 45GMX
CPU: E5200
RAM: 2Gb

Thanks

Fixed my problem. After many attempts discovered that combination of video card and drivers affected the conflict. Replaced the 8500GT with an HD2400PRO, immediately heard improvements, but not total fix. Used Quartz Debug from the Xcode package to isolate QE as the problem. Permanently turned off QE using:

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver GLCompositor -dict tileHeight -int 0 tileWidth -int 0

See no noticeable video degradation with the 2400PRO. This fix does not work for the NVidia card. Now have an awesome DAW system
