So I took my Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 from my Mac OSX Kalyway 10.5.2 computer (which it works on with kX drivers) and moved it to my dad's Mac OSX iDeneb 10.5.5 computer and installed kX. It is recognized on my computer, but why is it not being recognized on my dads computer?

Can anyone help me to get this working?

Thanks.
Tech Star
I got it to be recognized, but the sound does not come out of the speakers. Why?
Oxtie
1. Cable connections checked from behind? On proper port? or on Mic?
2. Audio Midi Setup set with appropriate speakers? Performed Speaker Test?
3. Speakers Powered ON? Power Cables checked?
4. HeadPhones plugged in resulting in Mute?
5. Any other drivers conflicting? OnBoard Audio disabled in BIOS? (Onboard drivers for Azalia / AppleHDA known to conflict)
6. Is Device's name mentioned properly in Audio Midi setup? eg. "kX 0350 etc" (Application \ Utilities)
7. "Intel ICH and PIIX Controller" was enabled in your iDeneb setup? unchecked Azalia, AppleHDA in setup?
8. Volume Controls checked? tongue.gif
9. Earlier versions working on your system? (have you tried earlier versions? see my signature for download links)
10. Your sound works on XP/Vist???? (and with kX drivers for Windows???)
11. BIOS shows information that PCI card is inserted properly?
12. Tried other Distros such as Kalyway itself? tongue.gif iDeneb was shown in the main page and replaced with JaS release, why? tongue.gif
13. Sound comes when you put your headphones ON? in the headphones port?

I'm assuming you've already read the release notes, new known issues and meaning of "BETA" on web properly smile.gif

1. Yes everything is corrected in the right way.
2. Yes I have performed speaker tests, I changed 2 speakers and they both work on my Mac with my Soundbaster Audigy 2 ZS, but when I move them to my dad's computer it does not work (the sound card is recognized, but no sound).
3. Yes they are on, power cables are checked.
4. No headphones are plugged in.
5. There is no onboard audio on his mobo and no other drivers were installed other than kX.
6. Yes it is mentioned in the sound settings, it just says no inputs or outputs were found.
7. Yes I have.
8. Volume as load as it can be.
9. Yes I have, still no go.
10. Sound works on XP on both computers, kX is installed on my Mac with this soundcard and it works fine, but with my dads computer nope it does not work.
11. The computer see's the card.
12. Kalyway does not install on my dad's computer. I have not tried JaS. I will try it now.
13. Nope. No sound from headphones.

While you try for JaS, also try changing to different PCI slot (idea from Russ). Also kX for WIN is installed on your dad's Windows?
Tech Star
I already did try to change the PCI, and he does not have Windows on his computer anymore, I deleted it for Mac.

JaS is installing right now. I will let you know what happens.

I guess the easiest check is to ensure you are using correct jacks smile.gif
for kx/win -> rear and front are swapped
for kx/osx -> they are not
