lol, wireless actually worked perfect out of the box for me.
However, because there are several different ways to install 10.5 heres what i used...
Kalyway 10.5.2 and then updated to 10.5.5 using the following guide to make sure that the 10.5.5 upgrade goes according to plan instead of not booting properly. Also following that guide will help in the fact that everyone else says install normal and then boot from disk and fix the problems. But thats more hassle.
GuideHeres basically what the guide says:
1. download the pre/post packages it links you to (you do NOT need the nforce chipsets).
2. download the 10.5.5 combo update from apple
3. install the pre-update (dont restart or shutdown)
4. install the combo update (dont restart or shutdown - you will need to leave window up while you do next step)
5. install the post-update
6. finally restart
7. all should be good
note: you do NOT need to run or use the pre-nforce thats included in the packages you downloaded. It's not needed for the hp dv51000us.
Also, just in case your wonder. Heres what I got working and what i didnt.
ethernet - couldnt get working at all
wifi - works as noted above
bluetooth - works out of box with distro noted above
audio - works as i noted in previous post above
video - will never really get it working as i noted above (yes this means the hdmi port wont work)
synaptics - work by default (just needed to enable the setting)
quicklaunch buttons - work partially by default (the volume and mute work perfect but media controls dont)
webcam - worked perfectly by default
power management - worked after installing the power management from
his easy to follow instructionsusb 2.0 - by default as most do
the pci express slot i havent had a chance to test yet...but it showed up in system profiler so it looks good. and i cant think of anything else...
(p.s. i got it dual booted with vista and os x 10.5.5 using darwin bootloader - works like a charm)
