G'day G'day,

So far I have been able to get it working with the basic Azalia drivers, but I am looking for headphone support at least.
The speakers on this thing are terrible.

I don't have my own codec dump, I downloaded Ubuntu 8.04 only to find it is not booting on the MSI Wind.....
Really I am not to sure what to try. I have tested with a whole bunch of ALC 888 kexts (AppleHDA ones) and have had no success thus far.

Can anyone either give me a nice codec dump from another MSI Wind or guide me to get sound up and running?

Probably should point out I'm running 10.5.2 on vanilla kernel.

Thanks!

Unfortunately for some reason it is really hard to find these small notebooks, or netbooks in the US and I haven't even seen one yet. But more people are buying macbooks so so Im glad Apple is gaining marketshare and the OS has more users than ever.

The MSI wind ships with suse so you might want to get a codec dump using an opensuse live disc.

in opensuse usually:
CODE
sudo cat /proc/asound/Intel/codec#2 > codec_dump.txt

The v1.16 applehda patcher is the only one that ever worked for me btw. (sigmatel though)

Actually the story on the front page about the Wind says sound works OOTB.

Yeah it's all lies! Well the internal speakers work with no issues, but they are the worst speakers I have ever heard!
I'll give OpenSuSe a shot and see where it puts me!
Thanks for the help!

I have OS X running on my HP dv9500t and I just ordered an MSI Wind which should be waiting for me by the time I get home next week, and I am gearing up to install OS X on it and installing several hardware upgrades (RAM, maybe WiFi if it still needs it, maybe HDD) and I was wondering if any progress has been made on the mic/headphone front. I hope to put music and movies on it and I use my current laptop for video chat often so these are somewhat essential for me, although if nothing works then I will buy a USB headset until something is done.

My USB headphones works ok.

I'm testing with patchers but don't work. sad.gif If any have working please post here happy.gif
