My laptop (Dell Vostro 1500) uses the Intel GM965 chipset (ICH8-ME Intel southbridge), but I can't work what sound driver it uses.

In the device manager (in Windows) there's any entry under Sound, video and game controllers for 'SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC', but I don't know which version or anything. How do I know which driver to use for Mac OX Leopard?

(I've been using Mac OS X for 2 days!!! - complete noob as far as mac goes anyway.)

BTW: OS X Leopard works perfectly - ethernet automatically connected to my desktop PC and had internet up and running 1st go! I was Impressed! (only on a mac!!!)

I'm having the same problem. I am completely new to the Mac world, and everything is working fine except for my audio. I am using a Dell Inspiron 1520 and I too need a Sigmatel audio driver. If the installation requires more than double-clicking and letting itself install, please respond with a step by step instruction guide. I am a Windows brat and am blind when it comes to OSx. Thanks.
