i still have yet to find a driver to work with my new gateway... the hardware specs are only telling me that i have an HD audio chip, whether it's made by intel or realtek or sigmatel, i would like to know if anyone could help me. i have a gateway m series notebook with an intel 965 chipset. any help would be great, thanks

In windows, go to device manager (Start> right click My Computer, Properties), find 'Sound, video and game controllers', and then 'High Definition Audio Device'. Right click it and go to properties. Click the Details tab, and Select 'Hardware Ids' from the Property drop-down menu. You should see one or more lines of text. What we need is the Vendor ID and the Hardware ID; in the text, those are the numbers after &VEN_ and &DEV_. Mine says HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8348&DEV_7861&SUBSYS_80860707
EDIT: I have the Sigmatel 9223 chipset. Apparently there is little to no success with that one. There's a good chance you have either the 9220 or the 9200

And if you don't have Windows installed, just download one of the many Linux LiveCDs and you can find the same info.

thanks alot guys, i found the ids, since i have the same vendor id as you i'm guessing it's made by sigmatel, and the device id is 76A0. i've been trying random drivers with no luck... i'll try the 9200 and the 9220 now, if you know what driver the 76a0 specifically needs, let me know... thanks

Did you get it to work? I have the same thing and I'm trying to figure out a way to make it work.
