Thank you for the awesome work! (never believed that I will use soundblaster on osx)
I have a SB Live 10k1 CT 4832 b800 and it works well for a few minutes then it starts to distort for a while (like loosing power or something like that). after that it comes back to normal sound then, again, behaves like loosing power for a while and so on in some kind of cycle.
I attached the output of console (picture 5)

update: if the sound gets distorted and i unload/reload kXaudio after a short time i get kernel panic.

OK, see my signature below? Download 1.0b3 (or 1.1b0 which is stable in your case, the great Live series). This does not mean that distortion will go away, it only means you will not get Kernel Panics while unloading and reloading On the other hand, if you can wait for next release, better. (lol living with kernel panics don't make sense thats all )

The driver works OOTB, no hissing sound, no distortion even after hours of playing and all channels are assigned correctly.

But there are still a few issues here:
- No bass output at all, even when playing DVDs. Subwoofer works in Audio MIDI Setup, though.
- Single channel volume in Audio MIDI Setup resets always to full volume. That's not so good for me, because I have a 5.1 speaker set without master volume and I have to set the master volume in OSX to a very low level.

My soundcard is a Audigy 2 (SB0240 10k2 A000).

Yay! I've been waiting for 2 years for this driver, and almost bought a new sound card. I'm using 1.1b1 with no problems at all! Thanks.

I used the KX drivers from the early versions, I started with the EMUHACK.
I use the kx in a SBLive! two live! connected internally (4-bone) in an Audigy 2, in an Audigy 2 and two lives!.
Spend time learning the use of DSP and all possibilities.
Eugene Gavrilov is a kind of hero to me.
Once again I find making a great contribution to the community.

After upgrading to 10.5.5 I have many kernel panic apparently without reason, but if I turn off the driver 1.1b1 the system is stable: why?

I use Kx driver 1.1b0 all time! no freezes no sound distorts ..

When install RealPlayer. (UB) . no sound..! but works w/ALC882 on board... a _Kx driver bug? or realplayer bug?

Using 1.1b0 for my Audigy 2 card...so far no problems and it's been twenty minutes. Sounds as good as it did in Windows Vista (geez aren't I a glutton for punishment ). Can't wait to try WOW with it.

One question...I seem to be weird and have the Creative Inspire 6.1 surround speakers. Any suggestions for best speaker arrangement?

Okay...back again. 1.1b0 crashed my system after I watched a video in iTunes that was on a networked computer. (It had survived for about 30 minutes until then.)

Rebooted, and uninstalled 1.1b0 and went to 1.1b1. Played WOW for about 10 minutes. The subwoofer is really loud...almost to the point of pushing it too hard. I did go into the Audio Midi settings to tweak things (after all, the only way I got good audio in Vista was those Daniel K drivers), but I was just looking for recommendations as to which speakers should be which number (yes, I know it sounds bad, but I can't think of a better way to put it...maybe 'which speaker should be on which channel?'). Currently, I have:
1=left front
2 = right front
3 = center front
4 = sub
5 = left rear
6 = right rear
7 = center rear
Looking for suggestions from other Creative Inspire 6.1 owners (or were there only three of us?)

hi. I have been using 1.1b0 with success. No more kernel panics with this version. But I can't get 5.1 to work. I configure it but no sound comes from the other outputs besides the main one. If I go back to Audio MIDI Setup the configs are reset (back to stereo).

I read some people got 5.1 to work so I was wondering if anyone can help me with this. I'm running 10.4.11.

Could it be that I haven't tested with all the spearkers at the same time? I mean, if a unplug the spearkers from the main output will sound still come out from the remaining outputs?

Guys this may be a stupid question.. and perhaps I missed the post.. but how can I tell if the driver is loaded or not??

Shoot.. doesn't appear to have any information for me.. I have onboard audio, as well as a Creative Sound Blaster PCI 128 Card CT4810.... doesn't appear to recognize in the system profiler, although in the audio options, there is the onboard HD Audio (doesn't work) and the AC97 Audio which is the one which I'm trying to use these drivers for.





Long story short.. I have the issue with the 10 minutes, then goes garbled sound.. think the 1.0b fixes that.. but I'm doubting I have it loaded.

See further below something that says "Extensions" or "Loaded Extensions" or "KExt" etc... . This is to know that the driver is loaded or not, In Audio, it may not appear for now, (future releases may show only the name of the Audio Card [set by E])... Onboard Audios are suppose to be disabled from BIOS if I'm not wrong. Didn't you try reinstalling drivers? (and Uninstalling through it's wizard), Deleting kext cache and repair?

1. The 1.1b0 works fine with my audigy 2 while 1.1b1 crash the system here and there.
2. Both 1.1b0 and 1.1b1 doesn't work with the game Quake 4 (The sound card doesn't support OPENAL?), even I've installed the openal for osx.
3. The realplayer only plays rmvb with bird twitter here.

any suggestion for the above problems is appreciated.

For your above problem numbers:
1. This is a known issue and new drivers may fix the issue...
2. This is a very basic drivers (please read the unimplemented stuff in the first page) and will have more features over time but all this can speed up if you donate some Pizza or Bugers or SubWay type sandwiches (donation $ i mean )
3. Again known issue which is expected to get fixed in future releases

Hmm.. wonder what I'm doing wrong..

I removed the AppleAC97Audio.kext (which housed MaxxussAC97AudioES137x) and installed the 1.1b0 kx and unfortunately now I no longer have any other options in my Audio settings.. (only the onboard one).

I put AppleAC97Audio.kext back in, and removed just the MaxussAC97AudioES137x kext and the same thing happens (after re-installing kx.

Seems I'm not able to load Kx driver.. I believe I should see that in the options if it's loaded properly.. hmm.. perhaps I'll try putting the kXAudioDriver.kext right in the AppleAC97Audio.kext package?

Nope.. no love there either.. bah! can't get this bloody thing loaded!

Hi Oxtie, thanks for your answer. I think that's the case then, I don't have any audio or video file with 5.1 output. What I actually wanted was to get the same sound out from 4 different speakers (not necessarily split into 5.1 channels). But if I understand you this is not possible until "dsp" is implemented right? Well, if that's the case then I'm looking forward for a future release with this function.

I've already donated some and I'll sure keep donating as the driver gets new versions.

I'm having similar issues as the other folks. I installed it just fine, but when I try to play something with 5.1 (Gladiator in 5.1), or even a demo 5.1 speaker tester online, on my system the rear two speakers are rerouted to the front. I even went to the panel to choose 5.1 and test my speakers, and when I clicked on all channels it worked. However if I exit that and go back in it reverts to the stereo. I am using the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (non Pro). Any ideas as to why it's not working? Thanks.

Well I read here, and some links over this thread about the Audigy 4, like I have... Works great so far with 5.1 sound.

X-Fi series uses different chip (EMU20Kx) and Audigy+Live series uses different chip (EMU10kx), kX does not support chip in X-FI series Why? Click number 1 (below in my signature next to X-Fi), also read this thread's first page properly if you want X-Fi AND, in my signature below click number "3" (this is where you can talk about it and not here)

I'm sorry if this is already answered, but I have read the posts (ALL of them) and can't seem to get a grasp on how precisely to install the drivers. There were a couple which hinted at installing it in windows first but I can't fathom how that would do anything...then again it is 330 am and maybe I'm just lost.

I downloaded the driver file, installed it, and I get the driver listed under the Sound setting in System Preferences but nowhere do I see Audio Midi (mentioned repeatedly) etc and under Output, it lists kX Em8960 10K8(ec00) as a PCI card (which is great) but it states that the selected device has no output controls.

I am using an EMU 1616 PCI through the standard 1010 daughter card. There are no designated rear ports to try, only numerous out ports. I am running 10.5.2 and under About This Mac, the PCI section reads there are none and that there is no built in audio.
Any suggestions?

Everybody is not as genius as you Its how it is right now and most likely in future (questions), so why get upset? You know, no matter what you say to them, there is always going to be new guys and the same old questions. You can end up getting blood pressure etc problems if you cannot get it under control (the behaviour ) If this gets worse, when someone else feels bad about it even moderators can get "blood pressure" which is not expected to be in your favor

i have [AMD] Lawless Phenom Leopard 10.5.4 and Creative SB Audigy Live! Downloaded the latest driver in dmg extention and it hasn't stood. Tryed to disable on-board AC97, but it didn't help somehow... My SB Live! doesn't seem to be appeared

this is great work...still waiting for the day when my soundblaster live 24bit (model CA016) will be supported that would make my day. I love the progress that has been made so far in developing these drivers. Keep up the great work!

Is there any way to get OpenAL working? I have no sound in games that use Apple OpenAL.

question regarding speaker setup:

status:
i am using an audigy 2, and got stereo playback working.
the sound is clear and nice, no kernel panics etc. whatsoever.

what i want to achieve:
output to both my headphones as well as my amplifier

what i did:
i opened the midi config tool and switched from stero to multichannel and selected quadraphonie.
i set the rear speakers (connected to the black jack on the card) to channel 5 & 6.
i tried to play a song on itunes, and as it didn't work i tried again after a restart.

result:
when i am clicking the rear speaker icons i do get the test sound (pretty loud), but there is no playback when using itunes :>
there is some "ground noise" and when i turn up the volume on both the channel as well as the master gain from my mixer (external hardware), plus the volume on the amp i can hear the song playing quietly. If i would play the test sound with these settings i am pretty sure the speakers would burst...

any ideas?

edit:
after further looking around the thread it seems like itunes won't handle 5.1 - i changed the mapping back to stereo and use channel 5&6 with my amp connected to the rear (black) jack.

Did you tried the sleep, i have audigy 4 pro but with kx driver installed does not sleeps.

Zaurak, I did tell your to put your stand-by mode (sleep mode) to S1 in BIOS @ DriverHeaven. Other then that, I've read that you've performed Eugene's steps so, E is surely doing something to find this issue of yours but in my case, Sleep works perfectly! (with S1 mode and doesn't with S3 without kX installed). Zaurak, please try the previous builds (1.0b2, 1.0b3, 1.1b0 links in my signature) and let E know whether it works or not! (at DriverHeaven where you started the post originally)

Anyone else? with shutdown/stand-by issues post kX installation??? please follow the bug report conversations...

No, ONLY x86, not PPC

AMD supports x86 (even x64) and they are not PPC Just slightly different kernel . (Motorola G4 and IBM G5 were power processors). Anyways, not sure whether AMD works or not, kX FAQ for win shows "AMD"





I assume you've checked the compatibility list (check my signature if you missed first page), I also assume that you have Intel processor as above quotes aren't exactly friendly type.

I just hope it won't be too long before we get our hands on the new version of the driver(?1.1b2?). I've got a SB0060(Live 5.1) and I get distortions roughly after 1 minute. Eugene I can't thank you enough for your contribution to the OSx86 society. Well Written!

btw, why do you think AMD is not supported? : )
I guess it is, because AMD uses slightly different kernel, but the reset of the OS X components should run fine

I don't have AMD + that dude's question makes it look like it didn't work, if kX works for all x86 processors its cool kewl I am not a cool programmer like you but even if AMD dudes are few with emu10x, they can sure be your fans (+1 at minimum) depending upon how slight different kewl kernel you are

I've got an AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+ and on my machine it works perfectly, except that i get sound distortions(like the rest of you) after approx. 1 minute. But then if i do kextunload, kextload it comes back to normal(for yet another minute). The version that i'm running is 1.1b1.

Hey, me again. I have installed the Kx audio drivers on my windows installation and have been unable to get the sound working in Leopard. Again I have an EMU 1616 PCI card and have activated the drivers under the midi/audio settings as well as the sound menu in the Preferences window. Everything seems to be fine and still no sound.

Is there any reason why the Firmware is not auto loading? Is there any chance that that will be corrected in the future? I am very excited about having proper sound support for my Hackintosh but having to install the drivers in widows seems a weird work around. Beyond that, though I am not sure if this would matter, I have Windows and Leopard on two separate drives...will installing in windows even work?

If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them. And if the Kx audio guys like the groveling, then PLEASE try to fix the firmware, grovel grovel grovel....

Just wanted to post my success with this driver. Freshly installed iATKOS v4i dvd on a IP35Pro, 8800GT, Audigy2 with no options customized. Ran the installer and had audio on the next reboot from my Audigy. Been working on the system quite a bit the last day with CS3 and listening to MP3s from my server and internet radio with no problems whatsoever.
