first of all, sorry my bad english, and have been through threads and tried the solutions, but none helped.

I have a GA-DS3R and Leopard installed the Kalyway version, got my 8800GT to work and i know the Creative X-Fi is a no-go

I AM a Newbie, so this might be an easy fix.

my Specs are

Gigabyte DS3R (P35)
E8400
4 gigs of ram (2xpc9600 modules (kingston) and 2xpc8000 modules (Gskill))
750 GB sata F1 disk with a partion with leopard
250 GB maxline disk SATA with X64 VISTA

Everything EXCEPT sound works..

Used the PCWIZ driver pack, which supports the onboard Soundcard and has the driver, but still no sound. kinda annoying EVERYTHING else works..

anything else i can do? have updated the kernel after install.

First time user of MAC OS so i might have done something wrong

Sorry canīt help you with that but a cheap FW card like the Phonic firelfly 302 (pick a used one up on ebay for example) and a cheap PCI -> FW card with Texas Instrument chipset should fix it for you way better than that onboard stuff. I have the same mobo as you and this soloution works really good.

Put the PCI FW card in you computer. Connect your soundcard boot up your hack go to finder applications/Utilities/audio midi setup and choose your soundcard thatīs it. Good luck

if i bought a USB sound device, like the Steelsound, would i start working without any install issues ? then i could use it temporary until my SB X-fi works..

not to keen on having another Soundcard, i not giving up my XFI for vista, works Great with my beolab 4īs...

still hoping i can get the ALC889A to work (guess thats the name of the card ive got onboard), used it for a while when the DS3R where in my mediecenter, quite happy with it, as a temporary solution.
