Any ALC888 appleHDA.kext working in 64bits mode with: ALCinject or HDAenabler ???

mobo: Intel DG31PR working with 10.6
zoliky
There is a thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=181509
BTW, if you don't need 5.1 go and buy an USB adapter. ALC888 sound quality sucks!
lqtys
I also have a DG31PR, ALC888 not working, none of the solutions on that thread helps.

Is true that sound quality is so bad? Would a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 be better? although I don't know if there are 64bit kexts for the live, as I can't boot on 32 bits mode..

EDIT: 32 bits mode working, sound blaster live not, installed kx kext, but no audio...
Aesop69
Im glad im not the only one here.

I have tested all the kext I could find for my ALC888
none work.

I wonder if my dsdt.aml needs patched?

The big question for me is 32bit or 64bit?

Im torn on which I should use.

Ive been looking for a 32bit sound solution.

Does anyone know what the sound is called in the dsdt?

Thank you iorg!

They worked in both I now have sound!

Guess the PS2 is next

I think that sound is better with this New kext:

appleHDA.kext, just remplace

and dont forget HDAenabler.kext

this is for Intel DG31PR working with 10.6 (32bits or 64 bits)

Thanks iorg, now I have sound!

Do you experience a long delay while shuting down or rebooting? It's the last thing I need to fix on SL on this DG31PR.. well that and 5.1 sound..either with the onboard sound or the sound blaster live 5.1 I have installed but not working..
iorg
the long delay in shutdown or reboot is for the extension fakesmc.kext (Why? i dont know)
i prefer use dsmos.kext form Netkas.org

with dsmos.kext the mobo is ultra fast with reboot or shoutdown

for mobo DG31PR my bios is version PR0042.BIO

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Des...31&lang=eng

the new bios make the shoutdown in DG31PR to much long

Hi, iorg.
thx to you, I get the sound~ smile.gif

But, HeadPhone Out at Ext Front doesn't work.
How can I fix it? Or could tell me edit AppleHDA.kext?

Anyone know if optical out 5.1 works?
HaX0r Jim Duggan
I have an MSI Neo2-fr with ALC888 audio and nothing I have tried gets sound working, anyone else have this mobo?

I'd really like to go the DSDT route and have tried to follow various guides but can't do it as much of the code they are referring to is completely missing from my DSDT.aml. Does anyone know of any guides that address this?

Here is the Pinconfig for sound for this board.
I made it from winxp & flipped it.

Hi iorg, what method did you use to install snow leopard in the DG31PR mobo?i have the same one and would like to test snow leo, did you encounter any issue besides the sound?Usb ports working?any particular patch or kext?

I've noticed on this board, that disabling automatic mode on the bios makes the SATA dvd-rw drive not recognized by the bios itself.

Disabling automatic mode is the only way to make snow leopard boot on this board..

This is on the 0066 bios, don't know is there is any better version, I don't have neither windows or a bootable DOS usb stick/cdrom..

Yes disabling the auto mode in bios on this board puts it into IDE mode.
So it disables SATA 1 & 4 leaving you with 2 IDE & 2 Sata (0 & 2)
Without doing that the board will kp.
I have tested 2 diff bios for this. I am currently at the highest bios available.
I tested the bios from feb 08 1st.

I didn't notice that the second sata gets recognized. I'll switch my dvd-rw drive to that port.

I forgot to say, that the solution to the long shutdown delay was the usb fix on chameleon 2!
So I put:
CODE
    <key>USBBusFix</key>
        <string>Yes</string>

On com.apple.boot.plist and now it reboots/shutdowns inmediately, and also the usb drives work, obviously biggrin.gif

UPDATE: It's weird, very weird, I just switched my dvd-rw drive to the SATA2 port, now it gets recognized, but the weird thing is...now I feel my system much more fast and responsive! I don't understand wacko.gif at least is a good thing biggrin.gif (and that's while having installed SL on an old 80GB IDE drive, when I'll have it installed on the faster 500GB SATA2 drive, it will fly!! smile.gif )

Grateful for this kext. My DG31PR ALC888 sound is fully working. I did the following:
Replace the AppleHDA.kext to /S/L/E, and put the HDAEnabler.kext in /EFI/Extra/Extensions. It worked beautiful!

- What is done in these kexts to make them work?

Hello. I install the kexts but I only have output sound, no mic (but in input says Name:None Type:Built-in Microphone and Name:Digital In Type:Built-in Digital Input). Can you help me please ? (DG31PR).

Thank you.

Here I used Chameleon-2.0-RC2-r640.pkg with GUID (no MBR). Put AppleHDA.kext in the partition of the Snow (/S/L/E), and HDAEnabler.kext in the EFI partition (/EFI/Extra/Extensions). Only this!

EDIT:
Do not forget to re-create/delete the cache (-v -f), whenever you change some kexts.

weird thing. I don't have extensions.mkext in system/library, any idea how to rebuild? its in Extra. No love on the audio, doesn't work for me. Will try uping to latest BIOS tonight.

Snow changed the location of the caches. Now Extensions.mkext is in /System/Library/Cache, but I'm not sure if it will work just excluding the .mkext. Try boot with -v -f, with me always work.

Another question: For users DG31PR NEVER flash the BIOS, the USB stops working. USB only works with the BIOS version PRG3110H.86A.0052.2008.0612.1910.

I don't have that bios and my USB is working. I have the xxx.86A.0066.xxxx..

I have to have three extensions.mkext: in /extra, in /system/library and in /system/library/caches/com.cache.kext.com/startup. If i don't, most times my usb mouse doesn't work. And I have to regenerate them by hand with kextcache each time I install some kext or some installation that installs kexts

Guys - I'm running a similar G31 chipset mobo (Gigabyte P31-DS3L) with a very stable Leo setup.

About to take delivery of a 2nd 1TB drive though and fancied a play with Snow Leopard. Any advice you can give me on the install? Any particular kexts you have found to be necessary? I found a decent kext to get my sound working a real pain in the ass to find last time. I assume if trying to run Snow in 64bits I'd need to find a new kext again?

I was just going to add in the new HDD and install to it from inside Leo, running Chameleon 2 RC3 to make the new drive bootable then adding kexts to the chameleon/extras folder. Sound sensible?

I'm just a little wary since everything else works so well at the min and I don't want to bugg*r it all up.

All advice welcomed.

Well, I'm Brazilian, and I could understand what you said, I realize that you will start the learning process and installation of Snow. I personally collected, read and reread all those links, topics, posts and forums:

EDIT:
Unfortunately the impression that I could see is that Snow Leopard is definitely not ready for production. Not him the Snow ... Yes their products are still conforming with the new design Snow.
