  1. I am experiencing an issue similar to this, however my USB devices will not work even after re-plugging. They don't even get power as far as I can tell after being plugged back in. For example, the LED on the mouse will be on after waking from sleep, but when you un-plug and re-plug, you get nothing.

  3. A more exact readout of the error (this isn't saved in a log I can find, had to copy it down by hand) USBF: 34.486 AppleUSBOHCI[Ox1814000]::start OHCI controller will be unloaded across sleep USB caused wake event (EHCI) The numbers in red are different every time the system boots. 4. Let me add some confusion to this: I've been playing around with ApplePS2Controller.kext, both the version installed from my install CD (in the sig) and a couple versions I have found on here. I always keep a PS2 keyboard plugged in because my BIOS hates USB keyboards, they will work perhaps 20% of the time. So: ApplePS2Controller.kext installed, keyboard plugged in: kernel_task is constantly at ~20% CPU. ApplePS2Controller.kext removed, keyboard plugged in: kernel_task is constantly at ~1-2% CPU. Hmm. I don't personally need my PS2 keyboard working in X, I hate the thing and it pales in comparison to my age-old MacAlly iKey from days long past...which is the best keyboard that I've ever owned. That said, I do have a friend who will have a similar hardware setup to mine who really wants his PS2 keyboard working in OSx86, so I am going to continue looking for a fix. Any ideas?
  5. On the topic of making sure all kexts have their dependencies satisfied, is there anyway to do that without recompiling extensions? Most of my extensions are looking for various versions of IOKit or Libkern other than the ones actually installed on my system, Apple System profiler shows tns of unsatisfied dependencies. Back to the main topic: After much tweaking my computer now will sleep fine, and will come back from sleep upon tapping the keyboard or moving the mouse. The system is not locked up at all after sleeping, however all USB devices stop working. If you unplug anything (for example the mouse) it will seem to not be powered when plugging it back in (doesn't light up.) I can tell that the OS itself is fine, because when it looses my bluetooth connection (D-Link USB adapter) it freaks out and throws up an error message on the display. This message has always popped up when booting with -v: OHCI: USB will be unloaded across system sleep. My BIOS is configured to S3 level sleep, my hardware is below, and I have the following kernel as revealed by uname -a: Darwin Crackintosh.local 8.8.1 Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.1: Sat Dec 9 22:18:27 AZOT 2006; semthex:/nebukadnezar/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386 i386
  6. I have had an issue with my AMD Hackintosh (specs in the sig) since the first time I installed JaS 10.4.8: kernel_task is always at 20%. I never could find any information about this issue, as most of the time kernel_task is at nearly 100% and it is due to settings in the BIOS like dynamic overclocking, or a poorly clocked processor. I tried messing with everything I could think of to no avail: kernel_task stayed at 20%. Recently I updated with every security update available, and in the process switched my boot flag to -v so as to better watch for errors during boot. One thing that I noticed that never caught my eye before was this: ACPI: Button driver prevents system sleep. My system also hadn't been sleeping quite properly, it would shut down the hard drives and network connections but that was about it. So I decided to give a shot at fixing that. I dug around in AppleACPIPlatform.kext and found the culprit: AppleACPIButtons.kext To get rid of this little guy, do the following in single user mode: cd /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ mv AppleACPIButtons.kext AppleACPIButtons.kext.bak cd /System/Library/ rm Extensions.kextcache rm Extensions.mcache reboot My OS X is now purring along even smoother, sleep works very well now, and as a semi-random side-effect, kernel_task stays at a meek 2%.
  7. My personal preference is to boot into single-user mode. At the very prompt you're looking to get rid of when booting, type: -v -s Then hit enter. You will be presented with a Darwin command line and root access. Then type /sbin/fsck -y /sbin/mount -uw / Now you're ready to edit the file system! Type nano Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist After you have the file open in nano, use the arrow keys to move about the text and find the Timeout entry above. Change to 0 or 1, whatever your preference. Press ctrl+o, then press enter. Then press ctrl+x to exit. Now type reboot ...and presto! No more Darwin bootloader. I would leave it at a minimum of 1, so that you still have easy access to booting in safe mode, single user mode, verbose mode, etc.
  8. My monitor always shuts off (sleeps) for a few seconds after the boot log says the Login Window has loaded (boot with -v), but it usually comes back up with the OS X GUI. Sometimes, however, maybe 33% of the time, I will get a black screen after the monitor comes back from sleep. The monitor will be on, but my video card is putting out nothing but black. Occasionally, I get a normal Mac OS X mouse cursor that I can move around on the black, which usually locks up after you play with it for a few seconds. The system responds to keyboard input as if it were actually booted and at the login screen. For example, I can get it to play the alert sound by doing certain things. I have: MSI K8N Neo 4-F AMD Athlon 64 4000+ PNY nVidia GeForce 7300GS Samsung SyncMaster 940BW Original (unpatched) JaS 10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SEE2.SEE3.iso Video working using natit, haven't installed Titan as of yet. I am not sure if these two problems are related, but I thought I'd share the info. It is also probably worth noting that I have edited the Info.plist files in the NVDAResMan, NVDANV40Hal, and GeForce kexts to include my video card's device ID of 0x0df10de.
