Speaking for myself: I don't buy or build PCs and put OS X on them because I feel the hardware is better than on a Mac. Even if it was, that wouldn't be my driving force. I don't know about anyone else, but does anyone else enjoy when things don't work perfectly on your hackintosh and you have to fix it? I think a lot of this community can understand where I'm coming from in this regard.

My laptop is an HP Envy 15 30xx with an Intel 6300N wireless adapter with a Broadcom 20702 Bluetooth chipset. I know my wireless card will probably never work, but the Bluetooth should be working OTB I think, but its not. My install is Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1, just upgraded to 10.7.4. I know someone in another forum with the same laptop who said his is working OTB. The interesting thing is, is it shows up as a USB device in System Profiler, but it doesn't appear that OS X recognizes it as a Bluetooth adapter.

I figured out the problem! I had to change the sound settings on OS X to Line Out instead of Headphones to get output in OS X, and apparently when I restarted into Windows, somehow changing that setting did not allow Windows to detect the Front Speaker output. The rear and subwoofer plugs worked in Windows, but that's because OS X didn't use the 5.1, only the front speakers. I'm not much of a software/hardware engineer, so I can't tell you why it did what it did, but as soon as I changed the input back to Headphones on Leopard, front speaker sound worked again on Windows.

Now before you go and tell me this is the wrong place to post since it seems to be a problem with Windows... It didn't start until after I installed OS X iDeneb 10.5.6 onto my ASUS P5Q Pro motherboard with Realtek 1200 sound. Sound actually works quite well with OS X, but as soon as I reboot into Windows using the Chameleon RC4 bootloader, I get no sound. As far as I can tell, drivers are detected in Windows, and it isn't muted in Windows. I don't know what the problem. My theory is that OS X isn't properly unmounting the device so Windows has a hard time using it correctly. Any help would be appreciated. SOLVED: See post 3.

Well, those are virtualization applications. They run inside of Leopard, so that would defeat the purpose of having Windows without Leopard on the computer. Plus it'd be tons slower than just using bootcamp. Well, an Intel mac still needs bootcamp to install Windows. My question was, is there a way to installed JUST windows on the Mac, completely removing Leopard from the hard drive. So essentially, a PC in a mac case? And yes it's an intel mac.

Is it possible? Or do you have to run Leopard with bootcamp in order to have Windows? How would one go about installing just Windows on a mac without leopard.

Did you check where all the other SATA ports are listed? It's built in, so IDK, but I would assume it would be there still if it's even supported at all. Have you tried plugging in a drive to it? I assume the DVD drive is SATA? It shouldn't be a problem with ICH10 considering all other drives work. What motherboard are you using? If it is P5Q ProMake sure the drive is plugged into the red SATA and not the white or orange ones; they are not supported as of yet in OS X. I don't know if this is the same for other boards or not... The Leo4Allv3 will work well... The Live DVD might... I've never tried it. If you are planning to use this guide I imagine the LiveDVD will be fine if you are just planning on restoring the retail image. You won't void your warranty or physically burn or damage your board in any way. The ROMs provided by Juzzi have only been changed by a few lines of code and Vista runs fine. If you have not already changed your storage mode to AHCI, in some cases Vista may crash on bootup... Microsoft knows about this error and has already listed a solution to fix it. Some don't encounter the error at all. If you do, disable AHCI and Vista will boot properly, PM me and I'll provide the link for the fix (Alternatively you can google it yourself). Take my advice and don't worry so much... After modding the bios, follow this guide and you will come out with a great Leopard machine! I think one of his kext files got over-written in the update process. The boot132 should allow him to boot since it supplies the kexts through the Extras folder on the thumbdrive. I believe the Leo4All installs the kexts directly to the System/Library/Extensions folder. Please also note: This is one of the key advantages to using a bootloader with its own "Extra" folder. The necessary kexts will stay there allowing for future updates without much worry for breaking the installation.

Follow the directions on the first post to install boot132 and try booting 10.5.6 with that. If it works, some of your necessary kexts were overwritten while installing the 10.5.6 update. If it doesn't work, boot with -v at boot prompt and take a picture of the screen and post it here.

How to Install the Chameleon 2 Bootloader Alright the RC of Chameleon 2 looks great! This should work on both GUID and MBR partitions. If you dual boot with multiple hard drives on GUID, you will enjoy the added benefit of your other operating systems being auto-detected and not needing to press Esc and enter in a drive number. -EDIT- There may be problems with booting Windows XP on a seperate hard drive using Chameleon. This is a known problem by the Chameleon team. I am working on a solution for this. To boot XP on a different drive, use F8 at bios and select the hard drive. To the best of my knowledge, XP on single drive still works. If you are upgrading from my PC_EFI_v9 tutorial there are three things you should do first: 1. Delete the file named "boot" in the root of your Mac drive. 2. Ensure the "Extra" folder on the root of your drive is indeed titled "Extra" and not "Extras" (I can't remember how it was, I just deleted it.) 3. Cut and paste the "Extra" folder to your desktop. Installation: 1.Download the Chameleon 2 Installer Package. Unfortunately, I can't provide a link because of board rules, but if you do a google search for "Chameleon 2 Installer Package" you will find a page titled "Chameleon: Chameleon 2.0RC1" is out! . You can find the package from there. (Make sure you download the Installer Package and not the Binaries.) 2. Install it to your Macintosh drive. 3. Located the initrd.img file on your Boot132 and mount the image. Go inside of the mounted Initrd image and copy the folder titled "Extra" to the root of your Macintosh drive. (If you are upgrading from my PC_EFI_v9 tutorial, you can just paste the Extra folder from you desktop to the root of your Mac drive) 4. Restart your computer. Please also note: If you used an MBR partition and installed Windows on the same hard drive AFTER installing Mac OS X, and it continues to boot straight to Windows instead of the bootloader. I suggest you download the GParted live cd and make sure your Macintosh drive is set with a "boot" flag.

Follow the directions on the first page of this post on how to flash, and the only things I would change after you flash your bios is enable AHCI Storage, and disable ExpressGate. 2. Already answered. 3. You can use a GUID partition if you have two hard drives. If you have a DL dvd or a retail disc, go for it. A restore leopard disc that came with an Apple computer will NOT work. I prefer following the guide for a number of reasons, including faster installation. After that just follow the instructions for dual booting. I suggest using the RC1 of Chameleon 2 instead of my current PC_EFI_v9 method. I will be posting directions for that shortly. 4. Most of the drivers are on the front page of this post and the absolutely necessary ones are preloaded with the current Boot132 bootloader. But I'll make up a list of what I used: Sound: Realtek ALC1200 (just dragged both kexts into the kext helper at the same time, worked for me.) Internet: Atheros L1e Driver Patches: AHCI Fix kext, AppleSMBIOSEFIResolver, AppleSMBIOSEFI (look up for the link to those two). (Also note: I used osx86tools to fix "Unknown" processor name. Video: Follow this guide for your 4870 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=155477 . If none of the shutdown kexts work, chances are it has something to do with the video card. Let it sit for a little bit and make sure it doesnt shutdown. Also pay attention and see if it shuts down before installing the video driver. It depends, if you have an older tv with just s-video or composite (yellow wire) video, you need S-Video on your video card to work. Search the video card forums, however, it isn't likely you will get S-Video to work. If you have an LCD, you can just use the VGA (D-Sub) port to connect it your LCD (most LCD's have one). If the LCD has a DVI, that would work even better... if it doesn't, you can also convert DVI to HDMI. If your tv is older, the only alternative is to find a USB tv-out device (or PCI card) that will work with Mac. Try the Apple store.

Oh okay! I'm glad PC_EFI works with the other people on this forum! I'm working on other solutions for bootloading, just have to do some more experimenting I guess!

I was trying to test my PC_EFI_v9 directions (on first post) on a GUID partition table, because I was getting reports of errors. So I formatted another hard drive I had with a GUID partition table. Followed my own steps, etc. The bootloader stops at boot1:error. So I was looking around the forums for solutions... I tried munky's method for installing efi on that 200mb partition created by GUID, same error. I tried Universal installer, same error. I tried the latest RC of Chameleon 2, it just stops at boot0: done and freezes. I then went ahead and formatted the drive again as MBR, no errors and everything worked flawless. The drive is an internal IDE hard drive, so maybe that's the problem, but i doubt it, since MBR works and GUID doesnt. I looked up the error online and some people fixed it with non-case-sensitive formatting, but that seems to be the default now, so idk.

I created a test GUID installation, and I appear to be encountering problems with my PC_EFI method. I have tried other methods of EFI installation, but none of them appear to be working when I format the drive GUID. Does anybody have a GUID partition with a working installation of PC_EFI? If so, how did you do this?
