Actually, I modified that bios and produced that file as with all of the files I post. I just downloaded it myself, it extracted fine with WinRAR and the MD5 for the bios matches. I archive all these files with winrar. How are you trying to extract it? In windows or mac os? In both cases you need to download an archive program like winrar for windows or UnrarX for mac. The only archives that you can just double click are .zip archives. Hey there Order2Chaos. You seem to be good at BIOS MOD could u help me out plz? My request is a few posts back. Thanks Moe |

Got an HP M9150f with Q6600 (rev G0) on an OEM Asus IPIBL-LB G33/ICH9R motherboard with an nVidia 8500GT card. I'm witnessing the same BIOS incompatibilities: depending on the version, installs stop at "using 15728 buffer headers and 4196 cluster IO buffer headers", or I get an automatic restart after the first load in. I can also get this message "Extension "com.apple.driver.ACPI_SMCPlatformPlugin" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style". I also suspect that if I could get it installed, I'd still have to deal with the 4-core issue.
9150f525.rar ( 609.44K )
Number of downloads: 11Thanks helping if you can **UPDATE: I actually managed to get Kalyway 10.5.1 installed with the "vanilla cpus=1" options. But with no parameters, the restart just freezes at the grey Apple. With "-v cpus=1" I get to "using 15728 buffer headers and 4196 cluster IO buffer headers" and that's it. FYI. |

Hey there, I'm placing a request also for a HP pavillion elite m9040n, the problems are deeply listed with me an a couple of others with the same bios upgrade problem.
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=98145# the board is: ASUS IPIBL-LA / Berkeley-GL8E and the link for the current sucky HP bios: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...0550&dlc=en this bios issue with this machine has been winding me up since may, no installer ever gets past any apple menu, with no amount of flags, etc. So any investigation/attempt to fix, I would be super grateful, as would the others in said thread. thanks again! Hey i was wondering if you could make a modded bios for my ASUS F8P-X2B laptop
You'll find the bios here http://dlsvr04.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/F8P/F8SAP302AS.zip Processor: Intel C2D T8100 Chipset: GM965/PM965 (seen both) Graphics: ATi Mobility HD 2400 Problem: When i boot into Kalyway 10.5.2 "with cpus=1" it halts on "extension com.apple.driver.ACPI_SMC_Plugin_Platfrom has dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.components" Also three questions (anyone can answer these) 1) If i do get a modded bios how do i get it to work (do i have to flash it or something)? 2) Can i restore my old bios if i want to? 3) Will this solve my ACPI issues with kalyway and iATKOS and let me use the vanilla kernel? Thx in advance |

1) If i do get a modded bios how do i get it to work (do i have to flash it or something)? Yes you have to flash it or something 2) Can i restore my old bios if i want to? Depends on whether or not the modded BIOS works. If you flash with a bad BIOS, or you do an incomplete flash (interrupt the process) only your manufacturer (or a very knowledgeable and resourceful technician) will be able to help you. Otherwise you can simply reflash with the old BIOS. BTW, make sure you have a copy of the old BIOS before you flash... 3) Will this solve my ACPI issues with kalyway and iATKOS and let me use the vanilla kernel? Possibly, depending on what you mean by "ACPI issues". This mod address some pretty specific issues discussed in the very first post on this thread. Please read that post carefully! |

I can see that you're inundated with requests for modded bios' but I would also like one corrected.
*HP nc8430 (see attached CPUz file for specs) *the bios can be found here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechS...Item=ob-57210-1 *same issue as everyone else... unable to boot unless the cpus=1 command is used. Thank you so much!

hey, Kabyl it has been awhile since I have posted in here, and I see you now have an Asus laptop. Wish mine had the finger scanner -.-. Anyways my Asus is still running strong and I just upgraded my desktop to a 4Core1600P35-WiFi motherboard (without the plus, simply because newegg did not have those in stock) this means mine does not have Firewire built in (did not matter to me because I have a PCI card for it already).
I followed David Tsu's guide, while it was a little bit lacking it was detailed and clear enough for me to get it done! I just modded and flashed my own BIOS for this board. I will post it and email it to you once I have OSX installed. |

well I can't install iATKOS with all 4 cores during the install (not sure what will happen after) is this normal?
I can set it for cpus=2 and it goes on just fine as does cpus=1, but if I type cpus=4 it does not work or if nothing other than -v then it does not work?? UPDATE I am now booted up into OSX however cpus=2 does not seem to work... cpus=1 did.... here in a second I am about to double check that firmware I made and make sure I flashed over the correct file.. if not then this will take me a bit of time to resolve as I deleted my Vista partition which had the tools and files I used. However I am not stupid, I transfered them to another. Also sound and the wifi card does not seem to work right off the bat as some had me to believe about this motherboard.. that's not really an issue but that was part of the reason why I purchased this motherboard.... Also I have one of the new q9300 cpus.. so that could mean that my issue may just be in finding the right kernel to use. I am backing this up to my backup partition so if I screw it up during the setup process I will be back up and running in a matter of minutes and I will not have to screw around with the terminal for every mistake. |

Dell laptop users, there is a kernel to run all cores. This may work for other laptop users also and maybe even some desktop issue you guys are having (maybe). I have tested this kernel at the link and it works perfectly with Inspiron 9400. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=117558

Hi Folks,
Thanks for the hand you're giving us on this. I have a MSI P965 Platinum Motherboard. Everything was working great (using the BIOS default). Suddenly my computer started to shutdown by itself (all OSes, not only my Kalyway 10.5.3). Thought it was the PSU, then replaced it. Did the same, then cleaned every fan. Did the same, then changed the video card. And so on... Thought about updating the Mobo's Bios, and chan! it worked! Now it works without shutting down, on all OSes. But Leopard didn't like the new Bios and gets stuck at login at the same point seen some of you are getting stuck. This is the updated Bios for my mother: http://download1.msi.com.tw/files/download...exe/7238v18.zip Video Card: XFX 8800 GTX Is it possible to patch this Bios? Thank you a lot! ~Cyber |
