For those interested here is my lenovo y410 dump when i built the SVN driver.
I deleted nsGui.app since seemingly it was doing lot of scans and hence crashing. But now i am in a non crashing state. I have attached the logs. Here is my current situation(the best i can be in) I see the wireless networks but it doesnt associate to a network and neither can i stop the card. I have modified some parameters but everytime i got a panic, so i am now in the original SVN state, that doesnt cause panic atleast. (or maybe it was the nsGui was the issue) . -------------- Lenovo y410 OS Kalway 10.5.4 - works Display (Intel X3100) - works Audio Realtek ALC262 - works Ethernet - Broadcom 590x - doesnt work Wifi - Intel 3945abg - doesnt work

You should be able to. I know for the dell it worked fine. Took out my 3 wired(black, white and gray) intel card and swapped it out with a dell (Broadcom) card, just pulged in the black and white leaving out gray (which is for N i guess). Mac OSX and windows run with it just fine. I don't know maybe you can buy a dell wireless chip and install it in a sony or toshiba if they all use the same type of hardware? You can probably just use the dell drivers? Don't quote me on that last part. i gues the third wire was for the bluetooth, because some cards are all-in-one gears. |

My laptop is Lenovo V100.
Weeks ago, I bought dell mini pci card after waiting for this driver over 8 months. However, I found that V100 is not booting due to the bios lock for a different wifi card that is not certified by Lenovo. I tried to hack it as I did my previous Thinkpad, but it looks not easy. It seems like reprogrming of the bios is needed. Anybody know is it possible to enable Broadcomm card in Lenovo? Thanks. |

You'll probably need a hacked BIOS to get it to pass the whitelist...try a search. |

WIFI ! but now, i cant get past teh 104 error in my compaq with the 4965 card in. is there a fix for that? yes there is ,it depends on whether your bios supports 4311 which most of them do . you have to do the sprom hack for that. it's for hp laptops but it might work for others cus i guess not many tried it on other laptops. oh and you must download linux gustygibbon or hardy heron or whateva u like. http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18313 |

Applehacker, unfortunately there is no fix for your problem. The SPROM hack tool is for cards with Broadcom chips only, not for Intel cards. Sorry for going off topic, I hate doing that.

Damn, my XPS 1530 just arrived, i selected the Intel wireless card because i was told it was easier to get working with linux... why does it not work with osx since its built on linux?
I'm referring to the 3945abg card btw. |

QUOTE did you read what he's saying . he said he swapped out his card which is intel to broadcom and it worked and all he needs is to go around the 104 whitelist check. He said that he wanted to get around the 104 whitelist check on his Compaq which originally has a Broadcom, and he swapped it out with the Intel card. He wanted to know if he could change the SPROM on his Intel card, I told him that he can't because there isn't a tool out for the Intel card to change the SPROM value. QUOTE what's??!?!? oh my goodness !!!!!!!!!!!! I don't see what the big deal is. |
