Hi Mitch_de,
You were correct in that the kalway AppleACPIPlatform.kext from the DVD was already patched or it had come from somewhere else on my system. Mine was 693162 bytes and reported V1.0.3. So I tried the orig. Apple AppleACPIPlatform.kext from the Apple 10.5.2 Combo Update showing: 582961 Bytes, Version 1.2.1) Now my system is not starting at all Thanks for the idea anyway. Jim: You should always boot with -v
Are you sure you installed the kext correctly? And had you previously updated to 10.5.2 ? What hardware do you have? I've attached the beta2 kext installer here, as per the latest release from Chun-Nan. I'll leave him to post details of what's changed This replaces ONLY IOPCIFamily and IOPCCardFamily. I'll be doing a stock kext thing later. For reference, what release is everyone using?

Hi all,
Many thanks to EqUaTe for the installation package. Here is the beta2 PCCard Package for 10.5.2. In this edition, IOPCIFamily will try to fix devices/bridges misconfigured by BIOS, including pccards, ethernet, etc. It doesn't require assigning computer name, memory ranges, or i/o ranges on IOPCCardFamily. IOPCIFamily will try to assign resources automatically. Please help test it and post the result under singleuser mode if possible, especially for those have reported "checkBridgeBusIDs invalid sub/cardbus/pci settings of 0x0" error while using the IOPCIFamily.10.5.2.beta. Thanks. Chun-Nan |

Hi Chun Nan,
I'm so glad to you for your work!! This is my case.= I've installed Iatkos v 1.0r2 and your patch rev 8, I've an Option Pc Card Fusion and after your patch it is detected, the blu light is on but I can't see anything in the network preferences and so I can't connect to internet. I've tried with some software like Option connection manager for mac or Launch2net but they don't recognize the card. Have you a solution for this? Many thanks in advance and very very compliments for your great work. |

Hi All,
Thanks EqUaTe for the advice. After my last post I had to restore the AppleACPIPlatform.kext from my backup to get the machine to reboot. I downloaded your new PCCard.10.5.2.eta2.pkg.zip and it started to run automatically. I was a bit reluctant to continue the install as there is a warning about needing the original AppleACPIPlaform.kext file and as we know, I haven't got it. But in for a penny in for a pound and I opted to continue. A reboot was required and so I did that. Well good news. Before my system was taking several minutes to reboot. The System Profiler shows this now:- pci1814,201 Regards, Jim Checking these details on pcidatabase.com - this card is using the ralink chipset. Possibly RT2560. I don't know if this works in leopard - you should hunt around for RT25xx / RT2500 drivers for osx in general, preferably leopard specifically. ralink themselves may be a good starting point. hi Chun Nan and everyone else, i've some spare time so i've manage to re-install leopard 10.5.1, based on AMD, and here's the panic i got after i install both IOPCIFamily and IOPCCardFamily rev.8: note: already chown, chmod, clear kextcache, and repairpermissions afterwards.. greatly appreciated if anyone can direct me on how to overcome this error.. i really need this UMTS card to work... plus, i did not replace any other kexts in order to this work.. n should i try that PCCard.10.5.2.Beta2.pkg.zip posted by eQuate although i run 10.5.1? It's probably worth a shot. Which release did you install for AMD? I can probably try and work with you to get things working, but it's likely to be an extended process. Also, who is the manufacturer of your UMTS card? Do they have OSX drivers? This alone won't fix it - you still need a kext for the specific hardware.. EqUaTe |

i actually haven't try 10.5.2beta just yet, i'll try it in a couple of hours, do you think there's any chance it might work since i use 10.5.1? and the newest version of sierrawatcher 2.0.4 added support for leopard so i think yes they should be supported here's the release notes the panic always happened with or without the card inserted i'll be back with the result from 10.5.2beta |

Hi Chun-Nan.
Had a chance to try out the latest 10.5.2 beta today (through the installation package). Everything seems to work. It also fixed the broken bluetooth prior to this when I updated the IOPCIFamily.kext. Let me know if you want me to post a copy of my ioreg or dmesg log. Thanks again. |

Hi applehacker, Thanks for your interest on PCCard driver. However, I am sorry to say that you didn't offer enough information on your machine so I really don't know how to help you slove the problem. Perhaps you can offer some information on your machine such as ioreg, demsg or specificaiton of the machine. I did some research about your Compaq Presario C571NR but I was not sure if it is what you have right now. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...71&lang=en# According to that link (and I asume that you have the same notebook as it showed), I didn't see any information that that model has TI chip pccard controller. Therefore, I think that is why you didn't see any TI information after trying the pccard driver. What IOPCIFamily included in the package does is just try to correct those devices misconfigured by BIOS so that those devices can be detected and recognized by the system. After that, you still need the proper drivers to make the devices work. IOPCIFamily itself doesn't offer the drivers for any devices. Let me know if you have further question. Thanks. Chun-Nan |

Oh, I see. Thank You for your answer. My PCI-E Bcm4311 card is not being recognized in OS X, even though it uses the same exact chipset as regular Mac cards. I thought this would allow it to see it. Uphuck himself said that my card should be natively supported, so I thought the driver was already provided in the OS, and this would just let it recognize it. Ive got that dammed kill switch on my C571NR, and its really bugging me. If you have any suggestions on what to do, please let me know. Here are my system specs if this helps. The message from the mesg | grep PC stated all the kernel dependencies, nothing else.

Hi All,
Back with a quick update. I tried latest 10.5.2 beta and that gets my Comtrend PCMCIA card working (RT2500). I downloaded the driver from http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Home/Support/Macintosh.html and it installed fine. The wireless utility runs, I add my WEP code and shows the device as connected. The lights flash and all looks good. My router shows that MAC address as connected so all should be wonderfull! I used the Network utility to allocate a manual IP address, subnet mask and gateway as I read sometimes DHCP does not work correctly. BUT... I just can't get on the Internet with it. If I leave the wired NIC connected it, Internet access if fine. However, If I unplug the wired NIC no go anymore. IFCONFIG shows two active NICS, two IP addresses on the correct subnet. I have editied NetworkPreferences.plist and changed en0 to en1 etc. but no go. Any ideas? Thanks, Jim |

(Read the file first before making any changes). total Noob here been following the posts - how many people with ACPI problems have installed Power Management patch? Which power management patch are you referring to? If it's the bundle, it's unrelated. It's mostly people using old versions of acpi kexts. Hi All, Back with a quick update. I have editied NetworkPreferences.plist and changed en0 to en1 etc. but no go. Any ideas? Thanks, Jim I believe that's a common issue with the ralink drivers. It seems they don't work very well on non-mac's. No idea why. It's not an issue with this project. There is a thread somewhere on IM where someone was customising the driver - I'd try to hunt it down and have a look. Please HELPME!, i forgot to backup the original files and after applied the newones the rev8 , my system crash PLEASE can anyone send me the original files, also cant boot in single user $#"!$#"!$ Many Thanks!!! I'll try and get them to you tomorrow, but your best bet may be to get them off your osx install dvd.. You'll also need that to restore them. |
