Reason for edit: Your codec is supported by the patcher, move them both to other place (pen disk or main directory) and try again. Check if the codec dump it´s in plain text, ritch text is not supported. Read FAQ for more info.

Thanks Taruga, you're a star.
You were quite right, and sound is now working correctly - headphone output, line output and spdif out. In converting my linux dump I'd ended up with ms-dos line endings which the patcher didn't like much. Once I'd got the same dump into mac format the patcher was quite happy. With the patched AppleHDA.kext and ALCinject.kext I now find that shutdown no longer completely powers off the machine as reported in another thread, but I can live with that. Here's the corrected codec dump just in case it's useful to anyone. Thanks again...

Number of downloads: 265Next challenge to get this as an EFI string. This post has been edited by Taruga: Mar 26 2008, 12:26 AM
Reason for edit: I have to try to replicate that problem with my hardware to find a solution.

But I also have a HDMI with an ATI chip, maybe that is the problem! I tried a couple of dumps from the link in you first post, for ALC883! This post has been edited by Taruga: Mar 26 2008, 09:31 PM
Reason for edit: If your vendor id is really 0x10ec0882 the you have ALC882 and you shoud try the patcher with ALC882 dumps

Uups sorry I think I forgot to change that from your first post (I just copied it). System Profiler gives me only a device id: 0x101990AB
But under Windows the Realtek HD Audio Manager shows me that it is a ALC883! |

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G Sound Card Vendor: Realtek Sound Card Model: Realtek ALC662 rev1 Vendor Id: 0x10ec0662 Working: Sound out, stereo ("Built-in Line output") , mic in (detected as "Internal microphone, Built-in"), with Input volume slider. Not Working: Front panel jacks, output volume control sound prefpane also lists a "Built-in Digital output" which I haven't tested. Patcher Version used: 1.20 System Version: Leo 10.5.2 The codec dump differs only slightly from the (3?) others floating around. it was taken with ubuntu 8.04 beta 32-bit. knoppix didn't recognise the chip in my case. What's the next step? edit the dump & try re-applying it for more functionality? I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to experiment more.. P.S. sorry we couldn't provide for all your needs, Taruga, and best of luck in the new place.

Thanks for all your work for this community.
I'm attaching a codec dump for the Conexant "Venice" chipset. Hopefully it can be incorporated into the next release as I've seen a few others with this chipset (this is from an HP Pavilion dv6500 nforce 530i).

Your 1.16 patcher worked nicely in Tiger 10.4.10 The patched kext from Tiger should also work on leo. Thanks Taruga, I tried the Tiger kext again and this time it worked. My recollection was that booting -v it told me I had the wrong version of iokit or something similiar. Possibly I had mismatched ALCInject.kext and AppleHDA.kext I have same configuration of my sound as you. "Could you please upload or send me your patched kext of Tiger and steps of how to replace it on leopard". my mailID is deepenhm@yahoo.com. please share your valuable knowledge. Thanks and Regards, Deepen |
